One a 31 yr old female officer and mother to a 6 yr old & the other officer just 24 years old. Both officers have only been out of the academy and on the force for 1 year. They were both sitting in their patrol car when both were shot in the head, neck and other areas. It is bad enough to persevere in barbarism; it is worse to relapse into it; but worst of all is consciously to seek it out. All of the violence and hatred and our broken systems must be replaced with action based in love and empathy For POC, for the GOOD cops, for WOMEN, for LGBTQ community, for CHILDREN, for all races, for all religions, classes, for disabilities, for mental health, for all political parties, for victim’s stories, for Mother Nature for our very survival. MC drives the 10 hour drive to see our daughter on the regular. Many times after working weeks at a time on graveyard shifts with no sleep and napping many of those nights in the back of his truck. This he does while helping me to pay for our son’s medical, education & never ending court bills. Here he is at the father daughter dance on literally zero sleep. Yes MC has been an avid fisherman, with his father since he was a child. They use every part of the fish. I’ve learned about collars, especially of bluefish, tuna, and salmon. Most Americans don’t like working around unfamiliar bits of bone but the cheeks are best off halibut, bluefish, and cod. It’s not only about saving waste. It’s exposing people to a kind of protein source they’ve probably never had.
In Washington DC chefs are on a mission to rid their waters of invasive blue catfish by persuading people to eat them. Blue catfish are the greatest environmental threat the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem has ever faced. The blue cat these guys say are super predators threatening the entire Chesapeake Bay and beyond. They eat everything and nothing eats them. They eat blue crabs by the millions. They live for 20 years and grow to be 100 pounds. It’s delicious—not even close to farm-raised catfish. My dad was a deep sea fisherman I hear & my mom used to go on his fishing trips with him. During COVID my mom started writing stories of her life. I didn’t know. I’m learning so much. Life is beautiful like that…. #yomkippurfish 🙏🏽
