Thank you all for your DM’s regarding MC’s injuries and loss of three close family members in the last year. He’s hanging in there and he has more surgeries coming up. He is a man who has served his country in the Iraq war & his community working 19 hour days with these injuries. He still managed to be the best hands on father, never missing even ONE school meeting, play, basketball game, batting practice, football game, parent teacher conference, father daughter dances 11 hours away, not one graduation, not one ride to school, therapy apt, school interviews while in uniform during work, Etc, etc.. He doesn’t deserve an award he says for some shit you are supposed to do and that most women do everyday but I don’t care, I’m gonna celebrate him anyway. This is a man who slept in the backseat of his truck night after night between shifts in order to do overtime to keep our son at his private school & help with legal fees to protect him from being taken from me. A man who drove weekly in our son’s youth to drop him to be with his bio dad without fail. All of your concern means everything. He’s struggling as it all catches up to these military men eventually. Keep speaking as I read it all to MC. We love & appreciate you. I want you to know you matter and even if you feel forgotten in this life as if noone knows what U do on the daily, the details it takes to raise your kids while Society doesn’t acknowledge you? I see you, salt of the earth safe parrents, single parents, career girls with no children, single dads, married people who are unhappy and have to pretend daily, married people who do the hard work to grow together, and those who are of service in the face of adversity doing it all with grace and no recognition. I see you. The real fathers, the real mothers, the women who stand for each other, the real friends, the people who show up when it’s hard. The people who are trying to bridge the divide. Your stories of studying in Japan and the art on your walls of your home in Hawaii. Your masterful work that hangs in museums. The only man MC would let do a 15 hour massive “trust me”FREEHAND piece straight through in ONE sitting. I was filming Hawaii 50 & Scotty Caan sent MC to “Only use Mike Ledger” 😭 When I showed up after work that night, I couldn’t believe you two were still working and so I played with your beloved son. A single dad with a story of giving up Hollywood/NYC/Japan and being flown private all over the world to tattoo rock stars to give your son a better, quiet, simple life. A peaceful one. It’s then that I realized where your heart songs were channeled from through your hands and onto our bodies. All of us lucky enough to carry your art on our skin. Being a single father was your life. After 15 hours straight of working on MC and helping him breathe through the pain you gently took hold of my hand & casually did this piece on my wrist with my son and MC’s initials intertwined signifying trust & our unwavering protection of our children together. The bond that connected all three of us as parents was the same. Willing to give up everything we have to give our kids a pure & simple life. A real life. Away from the spotlight. With joy & nature at its core. We were at war to protect our children’s innocence and we let you tattoo whatever you wanted on us both. Never asking what you were drawing. Fascinating trust. Who does that? We were just honored and we both jumped and the yes, that MF net did appear. We never regretted it and in fact we were planning our trip to come back for you to do more on MC & bringing the kids with us to Hawaii were it all began.
