My beautiful, brave, smart, funny, wildly talented, darling sister Julia passed away unexpectedly on Easter Sunday. This picture was the last best day we had together, straight out of the ocean, our favorite place. My heart is broken, it will never recover. I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to make sense of it and try to live a life she would be proud of. One day, I’ll tell you her story, the beautiful parts and the hard parts. There is always beauty in the broken bits. But today I have run out of words. I won’t whisper it, I’ll be loud. I’ll be a voice for her and those that can’t have a voice. So proud of Jules, her strength in the darkest of times, in the hardest of places. She had a huge heart for those treated badly, those in great need. She cared so deeply for people that needed it most, for those that others would turn their backs on. Her death was connected to a mental health system that failed her on repeat but she didn’t take her own life and no one harmed her. She died living- bravely, fiercely, in spite of fear and far too young. My sister is the very definition of bravery.. True bravery is not without fear, it is doing things in spite of fear. She feared so much, things like me putting a photo up of her. I respected her fears and never did if it, in case it made those fears worse, despite how much I wanted to share with the world my beautiful sister. Yet despite fear, she stood up for the downtrodden, was a warrior for things that mattered most. If I end up half as brave as her, I’ll have lived fully. She suffered so greatly, unimaginable trauma and yet had the strongest faith of anyone I know. She was a dazzling light in a dark world and loved the Lord. When he rose again on Easter Sunday, he took her with him. It is finished. No more pain, I know you are at peace Jules. Always loved you fiercely, always will. I’ll see you again. 🙏🏻💖 #JULIA

This thanksgiving is heartbreaking for so many. I’m thankful for my sister’s life today, in the midst of another hard new milestone without her. 10th August was my sister’s birthday, the first without her. I was too sad to put this picture up that day but I felt the urge to today, this was a year ago on her birthday, so grateful I got to spend it with her. My sister Julia was as incredibly beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. Some days are so hard, I don’t understand anything, why this had to happen, I’ll never make sense of it all. Today I’m trying to hold on to gratitude, that I got to be her sister, in this life and the next. Eternally grateful for that 🙏🏻 Hold everyone you love so tight today and every day. Be thankful for every moment you get with your loved ones, even when things get tough, be quick to forgive during these times, it is so so precious. I’m thankful to all of those who have supported me during the darkest time of my life, not one kind word is lost on me, I love you all. To those who are struggling today, grieving, sick or lonely, you’re in my heart and you’re not alone. I’m thankful for all of you out there, sending love ♥️🙏🏻 And sending love up there to you Doola 🙏🏻♥️✨

Last year was one of the highlights of my creative path so far, stretching myself from actress to filmmaker, myself and these brilliant and hugely talented women who I adore so much, took part in the first @australianscreenforum Women In Screen Workshop In NYC! It was so life changing and I urge all of you female filmmakers from ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD to apply! This year the workshop has gone virtual, open to any nationalities located anywhere!! 🎬✨ I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have been mentored by other incredible women in an industry focused lab that definitely helped take our careers to the next tier. We learned how to make our projects a reality, with seminars on funding, script development, marketing, distribution, PR, Negotiating pay and work placements, business and legal affairs and pitching among so many other things. I now have a tribe who continues to support one another to this day and will for our futures, such an important part in navigating our careers. Huge thank you to @laura_daugello and @australianscreenforum and our brilliant mentors, everyone who contributed to bringing this tribe of exceptional women together. Its crazy how you find things at the right moment!! This is me jamming with my mates at @bluedragonchildren in Vietnam!! I’m singing a traditional Vietnamese folk song Cây trúc xinh, one of my favorites, wearing a traditional Ao Dai. I used to sing in Australia to raise money for this foundation, then went there in person to meet them all and it changed my life!! They were some of the most beautiful souls I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Started by Michael Brosowski in 2002, Blue Dragon is committed to helping kids in crisis, not just in the immediate but long term, as well as their families. They are the real deal! I’ve seen it with my own eyes.. Covid has made everything even harder for people struggling this year. So this Christmas season I’ve decided to team up with @cameo to help in a different way. Homelessness is something that is dear to my heart & I am determined to be more involved with, it is so complex, no two stories are alike. So often it goes hand in hand with mental health at times, an issue I also really care about that definitely needs more of a voice.
