Happy New Year! I decided to kick off the new year with a new project so I made baklava! I’ve always wanted to make it and boy was it rewarding. Now, I get to have baklava around to eat but I also have a deeper appreciation for all the work that goes into making it which will make every future bite of it that I have that much sweeter. Maybe I will demonstrate on stories this week? Let me know if any of you would be into that. Happy Twenty-Twenty-One!

reminiscing on how I used to feel when grocery shopping
Breonna Taylor should be celebrating her 27th birthday today. She should be being spending today being celebrated for her courage and commitment to protecting her community as a front line worker. She won awards for her work as an EMT; she worked at two hospitals during the pandemic. Instead we are posting tributes to honor her life that was taken ruthlessly and without reason. On March 13th, the Louisville Metro Police burst into her home, using an illegal no-knock warrant looking for drugs. Not only were they in the wrong apartment but the entire wrong building and the suspect they were looking for was already in custody. This is not the kind of mistake you can overlook. This is not a whoops. They shot her 8 times while she was asleep in her bed. None of the cops involved in her murder have been taken into custody. It has been almost 3 months. Today on her birthday, we honor her life and commit to fighting for the justice she deserves. The justice she should never have had to ask for. There is a link in my bio with information on ways to help. Contacting the local officials and demanding that the cops involved be fired and charged is a good place to start.
