ᗰOᖇᑎIᑎG ᗰEᗪITᗩTIOᑎ. Walking on the beach every morning is something that I’ve been doing for the past couple of months. It is changing how I experience the day. I am reminded that everything is transient. The waves come in. The waves go out. Some days are high tide- some are low. Some days the birds and sea lions and dolphins are out playing like kids on a playground. Other mornings it’s quiet and serene. I love all of it. What do you do to reset your mind, body, soul? My 21 year old Bootsy passed on to her next life last Thursday and I’ve felt enormous sadness. It’s been interesting to feel deep sadness yet relief. Knowing it was her time. Trusting that it was the right thing to do. Yet experiencing real loss. All at the same time. I am grateful today for ᒪOᐯE. Sending each and every one of you so much love. Hey you guys… I was just introduced to @animalloverescue center in Costa Rica, which needs urgent help!! ✅ It’s a non-profit no-kill charitable shelter that takes care of 450 dogs and 350 cats!! (In addition to sheep, goats, geese, ducks, horses, and others!) 1200 animals in total! 🐕 🐈 Most of them came to the center after being mistreated, wounded, paralyzed, or abandoned. The rescue center was funded by the hotel “Lands of Love,” which stopped receiving guests from the middle of March 2020 as a result of the pandemic. That means they have no funds to keep the shelter running… their dogs and cats and the rest of the animals run the risk of getting to the point of starvation and eventually of being released to the streets. Just when I feel like things are moving along in “the way I want them to” something happens; a change in plans, someone reschedules, a job falls through, an opportunity is missed. How do I respond? What do I do with the disappointment? Can I trust that there is a Higher Source at play? That just perhaps there is a Plan for me that will be greater than I could have hoped? There is a prayer, called the serenity prayer- it says: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. ᔕEᒪᖴ TᗩᑭE ᗰᗩY 2021!! 16/16 (This will be a long post! 😃) I wanted to share with all of you the amazing experience I had doing #selftapemay. A lot of you actors know what I am talking about. 16 self tapes in the month of May. They all had to have been either aired already OR if it was a real audition, we muted out the sound. I resisted doing this for many Insecure reasons (too numerous to mention!). What I got out of it was INVALUABLE and I cannot wait to do it again!! Thanks so much @audreyhelpsactorspodcast @audreyscoresmoore for Inviting and encouraging all of us to do this amazing challenge. Thank you to all the actors who have supported each other in this process. I receive and return it to all of you! I am sharing this video (and the sound is muted because it was a real audition) due to the fact that I booked a job off of it. Wow! If that isn’t proof that practice and discipline is important, I don’t know what is… and that’s not even why I did it! I had so much fun doing this! Thank you @hotshots_selftaping for your consistently beautiful set up. For those of you who asked me about my lighting, I HIGHLY recommend shooting your auditions with them- they are amazing! Feeling accomplished and proud of the work I did. Some of them I have loved and some of them have been a wonderful learning experience… ie: need to work on some things! This self tape is one that I did in one take. I wanted to challenge myself as if I were in the casting room. The other thing was that we had only about 3 minutes to shoot it so we did it as quickly as possible! I learned that urgency helps my work and that sometimes one take, the first take, is my best! You can check out the other #selftapemay auditions I did on my @selftapejanalee page if you’d like. I know I’ve said it before yet I will reiterate… this experience was INVALUABLE to me. I loved it so much! I started on May the 11th because I still wasn’t convinced that I wanted to do it- now I can’t wait for next year… in fact, I am going to continue to practice this month too!
