Happy Birthday, to my “Steady Eddie.” Winter snow storms spent with you take me back. From pub crawls in the village dating back 22 years, to our first engagement in Lake Tahoe, Finn’s birth day, winter walking tours through lower Manhattan, and countless ones since. I love weathering all the storms, big and small, with you. So proud of you and excited for the next season of #bridgeandtunnel! May this year be your best yet! ❤️
You were always doing your thing. Unapologetic. Your shows were like no other and gave many of us an opportunity to play a small part in your vision of the world. I hope you find peace with your angels @manfredthierrymugler
On the birth day of my second child, 16 years ago today, I am reminded that with each birth and child, a mother is also born.
I feel blessed to be the mother of two humans. The first brought so many learnings because she was first. Learnings about birth itself, appreciating what my body was capable of, motherhood, discovering who I was before, during, and after that experience. Forever changed and forever changing. And who doesn’t love second chances? Especially with our most transformative events. When I look at you now, son, I still see this little face no matter how much taller than me you have grown. Your open and trusting heart revealed in your eyes and the way you look at me, when I can see them. I aspire to be my best self for you, and your big sister, every day. I love you more and more and more. Happy Birthday, sweet Finny Bu. ❤️ 📷 @annieleibovitz for @red
I may be better known as a model of the 90’s but I was always proud to have worked in and experienced the industry in the previous decade. I started to shoot regularly for Vogue in 1985 when Grace Mirabella was editor-in-chief of the magazine (1971-1988), who died on December 23rd at age 92. It was her Vogue that introduced me to the first photographers and editors who I would learn so much from at the start of my career. Arthur Elgort, Irving Penn, Steven Meisel, Denis Piel, Jade Hobson, Polly Mellen, Carlyne Cerf, Andrea Robinson. Mirabella had come from Diana Vreeland’s Vogue and somehow still represented that era even if she was hired to bring it into a modern time. I don’t know if I would or could have identified as a “modern woman” at 16 but that’s the role I started to play in 1985. Here are some glimpses of those days in honor of Grace Mirabella. The first and final cover photos were taken for Mirabella Magazine, which she started in 1989.

Happy Birthday, Kate! The only thing that comes between us and our Calvin’s is the man himself and a couple of weeks and five years…

“I love people – it is not the fashion, it is the people in fashion I love.” – @andreltalley
I met Andre Leon Talley early on in my career as a young model. I can’t say we were ever very close but he was always polite and positive energy to be around. There were so many big personalities in the industry in those days. He was certainly one of the biggest. You couldn’t not notice him enter a room. The booming voice. The gesticulating hands. The wardrobe alone. Every outfit was a statement. Each choice carefully constructed. I took this Polaroid in 1990 at a dinner party at Karl Lagerfeld’s house in Paris. It was as intimate as an evening could be and everyone let their guards down to just relax and be silly together in the midst of Paris Fashion Week. Those were the best nights because they were pretty rare. And this is how I will remember you, Andre.
