My body has served me so well this past year and a half. Creating AND carrying my baby boy. Going through his traumatic birth (48 hours ending in a C section ** I lasted 40 hours with no drugs 🏆) And then the last 8.5 months, healing from the C section all while taking care of my baby boy. I’m not sure what has shifted but I think it has something to do with using my body in such a primal way. I’m just in awe of what my body has been capable of. That’s it. We put them on just as any others hanging in our closet but they are so much more. They carry the weight of our past & our future, our pain & our hope. They represent all that was lost. The memories that were never made. The laughter that was silenced. The languages lost & the hugs that were ached for. The years spent waiting to hear footsteps of those that never made it back home. Losses deeper than our hearts could or should ever be expected to hold. These shirts are also our hope. Hopeful for a better future where we can stand together, making space for stories to not only be shared but truly heard & held with compassion.
