Riley Elliott Instagram – This is how a 12foot Mako shark introduces itself when you jump into the deep blue sea with it after hours of chumming. To be honest it’s pretty polite at this stage, it had already rammed the boat, smashed the engines, tried to bite us up on the swim step and then @abc4explore and myself had to balls up and get in. But from a sharks perspective, it’s turned up wondering where the foods at. It’s the wide open ocean where foods hard to get. Then two weird creatures jump in and it needs to figure out what they are. Luckily Andy had a large camera to block the avalanche of razor blades heading for his crotch, and my tiny Harry Potter wand was just able to turn the shark away. But wow this was likely the most amazing experience I have had with a mature Mako. When they are this big they eat things way bigger than us, being swordfish and marlin, so the hours of amazing encounters that happened after this reflects how polite and smart this girl was.
