A record that feels and sounds like it was a whole lifetime in the making. Even more touched that he wrote a song for me about pulling each other up during hard times. Very excited to share some new music I composed for the incredible @sydneydancecompany and @australianstringquartet for a new work by choreographer @rafaelbonachela that premiered last night in Sydney and will be performed there for the next two weeks. The whole album will be out April 2 on @37d03d and is called Impermanence/Disintegration and also features contributions from my dear friends @anohni and @david_chalmin . I wrote all of this music to accompany a dance piece choreographed by @rafaelbonachela for the @sydneydanceco and performed by the incredible @australianstringquartet. The record also includes beautiful contributions from my friends @david_chalmin (electronics) and @anohni (a new arrangement of her timeless song Another World). The video here is an excerpt of the hour long dance work which finally premiered last month and which ends with this movement choreographed to Anohni’s Another World, and feels like the perfect song for the moment we are living through.

Very proud to have written the music for @cmoncmonmovie, an incredibly beautiful movie by our friend Mike Mills with my brother @aarondessner. You can hear the soundtrack now everywhere which also features our dear friend @feistmusic. We wrote this music remotely across these two years of isolation, a sonic representation of the ocean that separated us. The film which stars Joaquin Phoenix Gaby Hoffman and Scoot McNairy is so gorgeous.
Excited to share a new @thenational song, Somebody Desperate which we wrote for the film @cyranomovie which is out later this month. It features our friends @vikingurolafsson on piano and @lcorchestra who we recorded at @abbeyroadstudios in London along with the entire score for the film. This is a song we are very proud of and we hope you enjoy it.
A year ago I was in Noto, Sicily as we began making Cyrano with director Joe Wright @the_great_kazam and the amazing cast including Peter Dinklage, Haley Bennet @halolorraine and Kelvin Harrison Jr. @kelvharrjr. It was an honor to write the music and songs for this beautiful film with my brother @aarondessner and our longtime collaborators Matt Berninger @greengloves777 and Carin Besser.
