But once in a while, we allow ourselves to do kid like things and the point of -living- makes sense again. We don’t plan it all out, we talk to strangers, we jump in scared! 😝 . A week ago today I made my way around the sun again! As I’m getting some quiet time to reflect all I can focus on are the feelings. It’s something I write in my daily planner pretty often. This past year, as I focused a lot more “on the feeling”, everything felt *good* so it WAS good! More than good! They were great. Or exciting. Or hopeful. Or safe. Or the kind of challenge I live for. All my A. Hicks fans understand what I’m talking about! Things like my birthday festivities so beautifully put together by @melissa.botello from @mobovineyards was a combination of manifestations that date back to last December while filming in Leavenworth. I’m so grateful for life. My family. My everything. My “why”! My framily here in LA who *truly* are the best friends and support system a girl could dream of. I recently had a photo shoot with a team of ✨AMAZING✨ boss lady woman whom I had never met! I just saw the images from Brazilian beauty @amandapeixotoelkins incredible photos last night and I’m (eeeeek!) sooo excited! Amanda immediately gets a vision and starts putting the pieces together! . Muuuuchas gracias to my Florida funny gal @lornareidhair who did the damn thing with all my quick hair changes, @hhcostumes who killed it with my wardrobe without ever meeting me or any fittings and @kathleenmakeup who is a makeup -magician- and put this dream team together! Got to do some ADR for #ChristmasinLeavenworth this morning and eeeeeek! 🤗 So fun (and surreal!) to see bits and pieces of what we created. . This career is so fascinating because it can definitely be that “hurry up and wait” that you may have heard. But also, it’s that go, go, go and three weeks or six months pass and that world you were living in for that time is all of a sudden over. Those people you were sharing hours upon hours with, highs and lows, uncomfortably cold temperatures 😅 and uncontrollable laughter – we all go back to the life we had before. And many times, you’re barely off set before someone is ALREADY asking, “Sooo what do you have lined up after this?”. Like, I’m still processing that last scene we just did where a whole cold ass snowflake dropped straight into my eye ball! 😂 <~~ (True story!) So unless you force yourself to ‘stay present’ or rest and reflect, you can recklessly go from dream to dream without realizing what just happened. Without soaking in the fact that, years ago, you prayed for -this-. . I don’t know why I started that tangent but just to say that this ADR session today reminded me of how happy (understatement) I am to be able to do this. How grateful I am to @jakehelgren & @autumnfederici for creating ‘Bridget Torres ‘ for me. How beautiful life is that some weeks your whole world can be turned upside down in the most glorious ways and then you get a chance to experience it all over again like a spectator. Thank you. . The thing is, there’s SO much to it! . A little luck, a lot of hard work, so much resilience, an incredible amount of discipline, unwavering faith, and *this* – the sweetest, most thoughtful, and incredibly loving support system that goes beyond blood lines. . People often ask if I could have ever imagined my life like this and the answer is yes. Absolutely! I imagined it and dreamt about it and talked about it and wrote about it and shed many a tears for it along the way. That’s why I’m here. Because I trusted it was for me. . Did everything turn out exactly as I envisioned? Nope! Haha! But what’s made the journey so much easier and continues to brighten my light are sweet souls like Andres (& his parents!!) who support this exciting and very unpredictable adventure! I always say, “It takes a village” works for us adults too! 😂 I am soooo “lucky” to be surrounded by the BEST support system and its little things like this that bring me to tears because yes, I am indeed a lucky girl to have you all. . Hola amigos! It’s been a while. Well, haven’t posted since I celebrated my bday! Time is undoubtedly going faster! I feel “old” even saying that haha but am I right?! Wow! Watching this I feel so lucky to have been able to celebrate so much life this month! New adventures, beautiful experiences, lots and lots of love which inadvertently also makes loss hurt so much. Mi abuelo is reunited with mi abuela, my tio Carlos, and the rest of our family who’ve passed on. My heart breaks but through this devastating experience I was also reminded of how much of a strong, compassionate, forgiving boss lady my mom is. Not all heroes wear capes. She truly amazes me. So as I get ready to celebrate 38 plus 1 month of being on this Earth, I am *super* grateful for life, for all the love that surrounds me while I’m so far away from family, and the strong Puerto Rican roots that run deep through my veiny skin. 😂🤷🏽♀️ Que en paz descanses abuelo. Dale un gran abrazo a abuela y dile a tío que se laves los pies! 🥹💕 Te quiero mucho!
