Solstice day was very cold. The year has turned. The days get longer.

Thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes!! When I was nearing 12, I realized that the end of my childhood was fast approaching. I *knew* that I would soon be 40 and time will have flown by. In response, I actively sought out playgrounds and swing sets and all things I thought were most associated with kid-ness. I had some understanding that being a kid was a one time deal. And I wanted to soak it up. (Although dear lord was I a dramatic child) Now. I am 40:) and my 12 year old self was kind of right—the years do go by quickly, and they only move in one direction. I think John Green writes eloquently about this idea in his latest essay collection “The Anthropocene Reviewed.” We only get each experience once. But she was also unable to understand how much goes into those years. How they can be painful and tedious and glorious and frustrating and embarrassing and filled with love. My thirties went by quickly. But the me living them was far wiser and less serious than the me who lived my twenties. I plan to pay more attention this decade (should I get the entire decade bc who knows-you know?). And I hope this trend toward greater wisdom and less self seriousness continues. Sending you all love and wishing you a wonderful 2023!
