Best. Family. Vacay. Ever.
Perfect mix of family time, chill time, and fun time. I honestly didn’t know you could have a vacation WITH your kid—-this is news to me!?!? Every trip we’ve taken with EJ has been so exhausting we barely make it to the finish line. We limp back to LA, sore backs, under slept, ragged. Parents of Spirited/Deeply Feeling Kids, you hear me?!! 😝🙌🏼
She’s an incredible kid, but as I’ve said here before, has ZERO CHILL. Sometimes we watch other kids EJ goes to school with, and they just sit reading a book, or play quietly by themselves. This is not our kid!!! It is level 200, alllll the time!!!!
But something about age 5, she’s feeling happy and secure, and this beach town that is all about relaxing….it’s perfect. We have spent the days swimming and napping. All the simplest moments that mean so much. Very grateful for this time. Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo

3 years ago tonight, one of our favorite New Year’s Eves with Bob and Kelly Saget. Oh how bittersweet it is, saying hello to a new year. We welcome leaving this year behind. It was painful in so many ways. All we kept saying this year was how we just wanted the year to end. Now that it’s here, now that we’re ushering in 2023, there’s a deep sense of nostalgia and sadness. But also gratitude. That we had him in our lives, that our kid is moving out of her very challenging, very intense phase, that we are healthy and blessed to have such strong family bonds and friendships. All of this to say….whatever you’re going through tonight, be it melancholy, be it merriment, please turn to the person next to you and hug them. Be kind. Be grateful. Be honest. Feel what you need to feel, and try not to judge yourself and others. Do your best this year. I know I’ll try to. That’s all we can do.
