Standing with mammoth talents @julia__savage and @delkathrynbarton at the AACTA awards and I felt totally and utterly out of place and in complete sensory overload. Let me explain. Firstly, I had a beautiful baby 8 weeks ago and we have a 4 and a half year old. I’m stupidly tired. Secondly, I haven’t done fancy things for a long time. I spend most of my time and brain space running my not for profit @_hineighbour and most days I forget I am an actor. I put the high heels on literally at the red carpet and thought ‘I have no idea how to walk in these things, I may actually fall over’ I am aware of how much I’ve changed in the years following Orange is the New Black. I’m intimidated by how much older I look, I try the embrace that with gratitude for my life and life’s blessings (which sometimes make you tired and a lil haggard) and I’m proud of how I invest my time these days. Juggling being a parent, an actor and a worker for hopeful change alongside my love who is doing his own epic juggle is no sandwich in the park – but it’s beautiful, love filled chaos. It did mean I forgot my phone and wallet and my dear agent Lisa Mann had to order my Uber (owe you for that Lis) to get me home before my lactating boobs exploded – but I wouldn’t change a dang thing*.
*if I could magically reduce our global greenhouse gas emissions I would push the button and change that.

Tony Barry has moved to his next iteration in the big mysterious beyond. I had the pleasure of travelling through the wilds of Tasmania/Litruwita with him for work this year. We did the 4 hour or so trip a number of times and every time Tony told a thousand stories and a recited a poem here and there. I don’t pretend to have known him well, just that my time with him felt special. He was cheeky and heartfelt. He seemed to really care about the world, about equality, about bringing kindness and warmth – impressive at that age, navigating a body in pain- still engaging every stranger full of possibility for friendship. Acting is an amazing job. You go places you might never go otherwise and connect with people you might otherwise never know. Tony’s life seemed to be full of the adventures that acting brings – I am so grateful to be reminded of that. Grateful for my time with Tony and all the beautiful people that come to us in a life making stories. Sending my love to Tony’s family and friends.
Reading a wee bedtime story I wrote for @vogueaustralia about being scared and trying anyway. Tell me when you felt the same way. At 37 weeks preggas and staring down labor I need some inspiration!
Let’s start Monday right with some big love for your favourite Jews in the comments…
I’ll start @sarahkatesilverman ♥️♥️♥️
If you want a shake up, if you want to investigate your selfhood and how it relates to the planet and other beings – if you wanna question the big shit i prescribe @_sarahwilson_ Her recent book #thiswildandpreciouslife and her podcast #wildwithsarahwilson To promote this prescription please enjoy an awful photo of us in front of some beige curtains. From Dr Zero Qualifications ps. I popped a link to our recent conversation in my profile x
Hello and welcome to this moment. A moment no one can take away. An embrace with a dragon chrysalis. Cowboy hat. Insane platforms. And an expression that says ‘demand no explanation of this moment, it will not be forthcoming’. Yes, perfect.
@delkathrynbarton @harpersbazaarus @gucci @blazethefilm
Down right shocked to be nominated for best supporting female actor in a feature film at the @aacta awards. The dress, from @bluespinach means that I maintain my ‘no new clothes’ principle and still feel confident and able to express myself in this gorgeous @balmain piece. I love the artistry of good design but our planet really doesn’t need us to produce any new clothes. High end vintage like @bluespinach means that I can serve both instincts, without guilt.
Thank you for the beautiful makeup @monika.bunic
The #IPCC has release it final synthesis of the AR6 report. We have one chance left. We must hold hope and action in even hands. Sending love. Let’s move! ❤️. Check link in bio for more details and explainer article
I’ve been deep in the beautiful new baby zone so please forgive my lateness in saying thank you to @aacta for this very generous nomination. What an honour to be in such good company!
Massive congratulations to the nominated cast and crew from Blaze; Julia Savage, Simon Baker, Jeremy Rouse and Dany Cooper. And to all of our incredible HODs, including Alex Holmes, Sam Petty, Margot Wilson, Rose Saffioti, Nikki Barrett & Natalie Wall. Thank you to everyone for their their magical work on Blaze lead by the magic mama director dragon @delkathrynbarton produced by the powerhouse that is @causeway_films ✨✨💗
Some people answer the call and @samelsom_ is some such hero. ‘The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena… who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself in a worthy cause.’ (Roosevelt) Sam has journeyed from fashion designer to planetary defending seaweed farmer. Have you ever felt the urge to step up too, in your own way? The planet needs to you. If we all stand up, stand up now, we’d be lifting ourselves up for a beautiful future. Let Sam’s story inspire you, read more about @seaforestaustralia using the link in my profile. Thank you to @groundswellgiving for always stoking my inspiration.

Australia has lost Uncle Jack Charles and we are so much the poorer for it.
(I snuck this photo back in 2015 but we weren’t pals – I’ve just always been a massive fan. Next to me in the photo is Danny Jones)
❤️♥️❤️ Sending my love to Uncle Jack’s family and friends and anyone taking this loss with a heavy heart.
The verrry tired face and voice of breastfeeding full time working mum reads to you a little reminder of the gloriously important lessons we learned in the height of the covid crisis. We mustn’t forget the power of our collective kindness, care and sense of justice! Thank you to @_sarahwilson_ as I keep trawling back and forth through your book I find great wisdom, insight and sometimes a few little things I don’t agree with (how fabulous to be in conversation in your mind with a text/writer who makes you think and assert the things you agree and disagree with to strengthen your moral compass!) reading reading reading! I love to read – and then let it spring me to action. A little prompt for anyone who watched the video – what are you favourite wake up calls from covid? What do you hope not to forget? #thisonewildandpreciouslife *I read ‘memorandum’ when I should have read ‘moratorium’
This scarf was knitted by Knitting Nanna, Cherry. It shows the average global temp for each year from 1919 to 2021. Despite variation the progression to to red is undeniable and with it the warming of our planet. The chance we have, right now, to interrupt this trend is a window. There is so much ingenuity on offer, we have reasons for hope – but we must be honest about just how critical this window is. That contribution of, time, money, energy, expertise, or total life transformation that you were thinking about making – I dare you to make it! NOW IS THE TIME❤️🌏☮️ *the scarf graph was developed by Climatologist Ed Hawkins and my belly was painted with love by Jack and Pemau.
WILD is back and we kick off by getting @yaelstone to answer “what is left if we might lose it all?” You know, in the final wash-up, what really matters to us, what should we prioritise?
The Orange Is the New Black star and I have been IG friends, supporting each other’s climate work, for some years. In 2021 Yael gave up her Green Card to combat climate change and committed to offsetting future overseas gigs by donating 50% of earnings to climate charities. Legend ✌️👊 Now she runs @_hineighbour , a community platform that assists in the “just transition” for fossil fuel workers into low-carbon jobs. 🤸♂️🎉
We meet IRL for this conversation and discuss how much we love “wokism” intricacies, the complexities of the Geoffrey Rush case and how getting arrested as “a middle-class white lady” does no one any good. Be warned, this episode gets raw. 🌏💕
Link in the bio and stories for ya!
Two of the best dad’s- giving some heavy dad vibes. I am a very lucky person to have these two. 💗
@george_tilley_ sharing some badboi fantasies for @_hineighbour
(For the the good boi part of the chat check out my other job at @_hineighbour )
