“They flogged the soles of my feet.”

Executed today after a sham trial in Iran:
Saeed Yaghoubi, 37, Sale Mirhashemi, 36, and Majid Kazemi, 30.
They were arrested amid the nationwide protests, tortured into making “confessions” that were blasted on state TV in the place of evidence, and sentenced to death in January after a four-day sham trial.
They were convicted after:
– Torture
– No evidence other than forced “confessions”
– Denied independent counsel
– Blocked from preparing a defense
In the state’s Islamic revolutionary court system, they were treated as “guilty” with no chance of being proven innocent.
The verdict was so sloppily written that it didn’t even specify who committed which alleged crime against who.
Countries that have abolished the death penalty should speak out against this state-sanctioned
killing.
Intensifying diplomatic and economic isolation should also follow.
