Well to celebrate the release of the Primal season 2 DVD here is a little board to final comparison of the Birth of Fangs babies. This one put a few people off but for me this is what animation is all about. Getting a chance to visualize a dinosaur giving birth and make it cinematic and emotional is why I love animation. I loved boarding it and making all the sounds as I was doing it, like an 8 year old kid playing with his dinosaur toys. Scott Wills color and lighting gave it the perfect mood. Joel Valentine’s subtle roars, Tyler Bates and Joanne Higginbottom’s moving score, and of course Studio Lacachettes animation made this one of my all time favorite things we’ve done in animation. #primal #adultswim

This just in from Annecy… Within Adult Swim’s slate presentation was the Primal announcement, with Tartakovsky, in a statement, declaring that, “Primal has become a contagious disease that I don’t ever want to cure. Every episode flows out like an unstoppable force beyond my control.” #genndytartakovskysprimal

I hired Aaron Springer during the second season of Samurai Jack and he turned in some of the funniest storyboards from the season. Aaron has his own very unique and amazing sense of humor and style of drawing. So when we were finishing he approached me with a tv show idea, Periwinkle. A simple premise of basically a cooky Platypus seeing the world and causing havoc everywhere he went. It sounded perfect to me and what I like. I helped Aaron develop it a little and we got Cartoon Network to make a few shorts. It was bad timing as CN were transitioning executives and the new ones didn’t get it. On the last one in the Hotel Lobby Aaron and I animated the whole thing, FUN!!!! Enjoy… (Sorry about the timecode, only version I have)

1998. One of the highlights of my career was having Dexter made into a balloon for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. We flew to New York to watch it in person. It was raining and we were siting in the bleachers and suddenly the theme music started and the giant Dexter Balloon appeared behind a building. It was something to see…Then we dried off and had a 3 hour Thanksgiving dinner at the Plaza!! #dexterslab
