If you have lost a parent, family member, or loved one and are going through the holiday without them, I just wanted to say that I am with you. I love winter and all its beauty, but this time of year marks the dates of my father’s death and my stepfather’s death. I feel the inspiring thaumaturgy of winter and also the missing. Here is an owl I saw on this day a couple of years ago. I heard his call first. It felt like a reminder, the melancholy bell of his feathered cathedral. Regal, fixed, tall. I waited to hear the sound again, and when I locked eyes with his metallic red, he slowly raised his giant arms, and before me, an angel on a Christmas tree. Take good care of each other this holiday season, happy winter solstice

My poem ‘Webb’ is featured in the new issue of literary and arts journal Indelible, as part of the London arts center, LABRC. In the forthcoming years, the Webb Space Telescope, an apparatus 100 times more powerful than the Hubble, promises to provide mankind with an unprecedented view. Contemplating our present position and future trajectory, I wrote this piece. Thanks to Indelible and thanks to the scientists and engineers at @nasa for their tireless endeavors that forever inspire.
