Many also left because Ukraine ranks 39th out of 49 European countries for LGBTQPIA rights according to @ilgaeurope . Some also left because they are conscientious objectors or have family members to take care of that couldn’t travel alone.
Some progress is on the horizon with talks about marriage equality now on the table as a result of LGBTQ people contributing to the fight for Ukraine’s liberation.
