The Kyle sisters. The trailer dropped today, and through the chills, I still feel warmth thinking of these ladies. I will post it soon, I promise, but taking a moment to appreciate the beauty seen in this photo, and remembering why it’s so important we made this stunning film. So much love and gratitude to Osage Nation, to all the descendants of this not long ago history, to the community of GrayHorse that has raised so many wise, beautiful, graceful, funny, and unbelievably strong women ❤️ What an honor it was to portray the Kyle sisters. What a ✨gift✨to do so with these INCREDIBLE actresses. ✨🖤💙💜💛✨ Left to right, JaNae Collins as Reta, myself as Mollie, Cara Jade Myers as Anna, and Jillian Dion as Minnie.

FANCY DANCE LOVE INCOMING!!! SEE IT THIS WEEKEND IN LA AND TULSA!!! On this historic day in the entertainment industry, I am SO proud to be a member of SAG-AFTRA and to stand in shoulder-to-shoulder solidarity with the Writer’s Guild of America. Since we have until 2401 PST before the masks come off (get it? 🎭), I’m taking the precious time left to give a bellowing shout out to the up&down beat of my creative heart; this perfect indie feature that I am so excited will be shared with audiences again this weekend! After premiering to much love at Sundance Film Festival this year, Erica Tremblay’s FANCY DANCE will be playing this Saturday July 15th at BOTH the iconic @outfest in Los Angeles as their US Centerpiece Film (7:15pm at Directors Guild of America, Theater 1) AND in Tulsa Oklahoma (5pm Circle Cinema Screen 1 @circlecinema ) Making this film with Erica and Miciana was among the greatest experiences of my life. Getting to play Jax’s cunning strength, immense resilience and deep commitment to their niece and sister expanded my capacity as a performer and as a human being. I have never been more grateful to be an actor and storyteller as I was working with this team and telling this story of matriarchal love, and how it withstands the ugliest facets of colonization to keep our families and communities strong. The caliber of talent in this film is stunning, in front and behind the camera, and was told with the kind of love and community you can only truly get in Independent film. Thank you to every soul that poured it all into making FANCY DANCE, and especially to the incredible young woman sitting shotgun, Isabel Deroy-Olson. Your Roki was the cheese on the fries, the sprinkles on the cake, the stars in the sky. I know I just played your screen auntie, but I’m afraid you may be stuck with me for real now. Sorry, kiddo. If you get a chance, check out our beautiful film, it’s a rare one that deserves to be seen 💜

Made a very beautiful (and surprisingly cute) friend, on a restless late night, when I normally would have been asleep. Sitting just outside my back porch door, after I thought I heard a light rapping. Glad I answered 💚🪲🍀✨ #cicada #broodX

✨Ohhhhhh happy day!!! ✨SO pleased to announce THE UNKNOWN COUNTRY will be premiering at SXSW 2022!!! I can’t wait to share this journey with the world, and to see audiences entranced by the immersive, graceful vision of Morrisa Maltz, who gives us the road-trip we didn’t know we needed — especially in a time of so many great unknowns. Congratulations to all the beautiful humans who came together again and again and again to drive this story home. You are all AMAZING. A very special thank you to Austin Film Society, who believed in Grandma’s old Cadillac as much as we did…and indeed, she made it all the way. Victory Day. Repost from last year, sending love to @yellowbirdlifeways Little Big Horn Remembrance runners today!!! • Happy Victory Day!!! On this day in 1876, Oceti Sakowin (Lakota), Cheyenne and Arapaho relatives took out General Custer and the Seventh calvalry at the Battle of Little Big Horn. Custer took a fatal blow to the head, and it may very well have been a Cheyenne woman who took him out. Thinking about her today. Buffalo Calf Road Woman rode by her husband’s side in battle that day, and only days before, she had saved her brother, Comes in Sight, after his horse had been shot out from under him. She rode into enemy fire to save him, in the battle “Where the Girl Saved Her Brother” (please correct me if I’m wrong, Cheyenne family!) Thinking about my sisters today. Thinking of all the ride-or-die women in my life, and hoping the world continues to realize how much we need to follow your lead. I mean, who else is *that* badass? It is striking that on this day, which in 1994 was declared International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples by the United Nations, the sixth IPCC Climate Report was released. Been turning that over in my mind and spirit all day. So grateful that the leaders, healers, artists and warriors over at @ndncollective knew what to say. • ✨ In this moment, we must dream the Indigenous dream✨ Today, on International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released its latest #ClimateReport. “This report from the IPCC is the new gold-standard update to climate science, its first in eight years. And these statements, taken together, are the clearest statement of how dire the climate emergency has become,” says writer and ally Eric Holthaus. For decades, like testimonies from our Indigenous communities and leaders, these reports have been critical in understanding the impacts, threat, and the “why” of climate change and global warming. Yet, decade after decade both the climate scientific community, their research, and our Indigenous communities have been ignored. Given what is in this report and what we are seeing in our communities, this trend of ignoring climate science and data and ignoring Indigenous climate leadership by our elected leaders must end across the globe. Whether it be #COP26 where the international community makes decisions about reducing emissions, whether its local climate task forces that exist on the city or state level, or whether its entire governments, we need to acknowledge the climate emergency we are in, implement rapid greenhouse emissions reductions, end oil and gas subsidies, extraction on or near Indigenous lands, and invest in Indigenous led climate solutions. The 2021 IPCC #climatereport says the widespread and severe effects of climate change are here and its going to get a lot worse before it gets good. A new social contract must combat exclusion and marginalization and place Indigenous solutions and voices at the forefront of the fight against the existential threat of climate change.
