A few pictures from my performance in Tallinn two weeks ago.
Many years ago, when I was about 12 years old, I was attending a workshop with CVC mama. Workshops left huge impressions on me at that age and it impacted my practice. A few words made a big difference to me. No repetition or continuous correction was necessary. I was so hungry to learn that I latched onto every word that was said by any teacher. I would analyse repeatedly and try to implement whatever was spoken.
He said “there are no bad photos, only bad dancers. Whenever a photograph is taken, even if it is mid movement, it must look coherent” it may seem like such a simple thing to say.
But it made so much sense to me that I began to think of transitions and weight shifts and how my arms moved for so many many years afterwards. I can’t actually say that I’m happy with every photograph even now, but there’s definitely been a lot of progress because of this analysis.
It’s important as students of dance to remember that a teacher is a guide, and the work must be done by you at the end of the day.
Also, no learning is too small. Everything is important, so never close your mind to anything that is offered.
Performance was hosted by @amrita.stuudio ♥️

#Ibiza . I loved the old town. It was the best part of my visit. The tiny cobblestone streets and cafés, flowers growing between quaint houses, arched wooden doorways….
Might be back for more!

Day 46: #100daysofinnergrowth I realised that when travelling, I tended to watch tv shows on my iPad. Although I love and enjoy film, I’ve realised that staying away from a screen before sleeping really helps. It’s been nearly 3 weeks and i decided to only read before sleeping. And also to only read on flights. The books are not deeply technical or philosophical, they are just stories. As a storyteller myself, I love to see how characters and plots are presented in different medium. So instead of screen time these past weeks, I read two books , (halfway through my third one) – between 5 performances, 5 workshops, 12 flights, 7 countries.
And as a result, I slept a lot better.
1. Walking around barcelona
2. The first Book. Lovely read. Enjoyed the playfulness and suspense
3. Gaudis house in Barcelona
4. La sagrada familia
5. Catedral de Barcelona (loved this one!)
6. Same Catedral from the outside
7. &8. The kiss wall. It’s made of small photo mosaics that show moments of joy from thousands of people. It’s a beautiful artwork
8. My second book. I actually liked the tv series made after liane moriarty’s other book. ‘Big little lies’ . Enjoy her writing style
