My recent return to teaching—as a newly minted professor at @Columbia.SIPA on global policy solutions—has me reflecting on my first time around as a professor. It was nearly 50 years ago at the University of Arkansas Law School in Fayetteville. I taught criminal law and criminal procedure and founded the university’s legal aid clinic, which still operates to this day. I loved my time there and am thrilled to be back in the classroom. Excited for the semester at @Columbia.SIPA and for the work ahead with @ColumbiaIGP!

If you look closely at the bracelet I’m wearing in this photo, it reads “SHE DARES.” It was made by Afghan women survivors of war. I’m joining @womenforwomen in celebrating their courage today, and the courage of women everywhere who stand up for their rights and bring change to their communities. #SheDares

Robert Wilson, Laureate for Theatre & Film
Olafur Eliasson, Laureate for Sculpture
Diébédo Francis Kéré, Laureate for Architecture
Rural Studio
Harlem School of the Arts
Congratulations to all the honorees!

Fifty years ago today, on September 20, 1973, @BillieJeanKing defeated Bobby Riggs in the tennis match known as the Battle of the Sexes. Ninety million people around the globe watched.
The impact of Billie Jean’s victory reached far beyond the world of sports. Her victory advanced women’s rights everywhere.
Our work for equality is far from done, but today we celebrate greatness. Thank you, Billie Jean.

I’m thrilled to kick off season four of my podcast, You and Me Both, with someone I’m a huge fan of: Democratic House leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries. From hip-hop to civil service and criminal justice reform to Congress, we got deep into what makes this young leader tick and how he envisions the future of the Democratic Party. Subscribe today on @iheartradio, or wherever you get your podcasts, to get the episode when it’s released tomorrow—followed by a whole new season of conversations with fascinating people.
Today, I’m honored to return to the @statedept and join @secblinken in unveiling my official portrait as the 67th Secretary of State.
We’re delighted to share it with the American public right here on Instagram, in case you don’t make it in person to headquarters in Foggy Bottom anytime soon. Thank you to artist Steven Polson for his phenomenal work.
When I walked into the State Department as Secretary fourteen years ago, I knew that having the honor to lead the State Department and USAID would be a singular challenge and a unique chance to do good in the world. It was that and so much more.
I am deeply proud of all that we accomplished and grateful to everyone at the Department for their unflagging work to ensure peace, progress, and prosperity around the world. They continue to make me, and our country, proud.

When I think about the future of the Democratic Party, I think of public servants like Hakeem Jeffries.
Now House Democratic Leader, Hakeem got his start as a litigator and assemblyman before representing the great state of New York in Congress.
We dug into his rise—and what’s next for the Democratic Party—to kick off the new season of my podcast, You and Me Both. Listen and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.
Congrats to @prochoiceamerica for a new brand that speaks to their mission, and the future we’re all working toward: Reproductive Freedom for All. We will accept nothing less.
On one of our worst days, many Americans gave their best: their bravery, their selflessness, and their care for others.
Today, let’s honor the memory of those we lost and reaffirm our commitment to what they left behind: our families and communities, our democracy, and our country.

Twenty-eight years ago today, I spoke to reporters after telling the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, “Women’s rights are human rights, once and for all.”
What I said in my address then is still true: “As long as discrimination and inequities remain so commonplace everywhere in the world, as long as girls and women are valued less, fed less, fed last, overworked, underpaid, not schooled, subjected to violence in and outside their homes—the potential of the human family to create a peaceful, prosperous world will not be realized.”
I’m grateful to everyone working toward a future where absolutely everyone has the opportunity to fulfill their God-given potential.

With Mom, Dad, and a very tiny Chelsea. #tbt
I’m so thrilled to launch the Institute of Global Politics at @columbia.SIPA with Dean Keren @YarhiMilo.
What you can expect from @columbiaIGP: research that drives solutions; a local-to-global approach to policy; and a launching pad for scholars, leaders, and practitioners to take on our world’s biggest challenges. 💫

I had a ball spending time with @columbiaIGP and @obamafoundation scholars this week alongside Dean @YarhiMilo and @maria_ressa. With these young leaders taking on our shared challenges, the future looks bright.
“Their fight is our fight.”
For nearly two years, the world has stood in awe of the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people.
This conflict, and efforts to rebuild Ukraine when the fighting stops, will be a years-long project. That’s why @ClintonGlobal is proud to announce the launch of the CGI Ukraine Action Network to sustain deliberate, international focus on Ukraine, its people, and its future. #CGI2023
