I’m sick to hear of the senseless murder of an amazing woman and LGBTQ ally, Lauri Carlton.
She was a shop owner in Lake Arrowhead CA.
She had a Pride flag flying outside her store and a person who didn’t like it ripped it down.
When she objected he shot her dead.
Lauri was married to the same man for 28 years and together they shared 9 children. Her many acts of kind generosity and good neighborliness were well known in her community. Her beloved family and many friends are reeling from her sudden, violent death.
When lies and hatespeak about queer people are pumped out into the atmosphere by those with big megaphones it can ignite people like Lauri’s killer into this kind of unfathomable savagery.
Lauri was a hero. She was fearless The way she lived her life should be an example to all.
It is on us to remember her and tell her story.

My friend Jennifer Ehle who played Emily’s sister Lavinia just let me know that Terence passed this morning.
Terence I am so sad you are gone but also so grateful for all your beautiful, heartbreaking and always intensely personal films. Getting to work with you was such a highlight of my career and my life.

The Writer’s strike has been settled and all fingers crossed that actors will be next.  But a writer putting pen to paper is just the start of the creative process and SO MANY of the people who make our industry possible are not going to see a paycheck for months and months and months.
My friend, the insanely talented make-up artist @itsmatin has set up the @beauty4beautyproject together with @ellenmaguire and @saharalotti to support hair, make up and nail artists who are desperately struggling to make ends meet right now. Â
Beauty4Beauty is a way for beauty companies to lift up the beauty artists who routinely promote the products they love when using them to make someone like me glow and sparkle.
By pledging to hire hair, make up and nail designers for mutually agreed upon projects, beauty companies have the opportunity to give back at this critical moment when our hair and make-up community so desperately needs it.
