Incredible how someone you’ve never met can have such an impact on your life. But that’s the power of storytelling and in this case, a brilliant storyteller. I’ve laughed so much, for so long watching @friends. If you know me, you know I make a reference to this show at a minimum 3 times a week. But here’s the crux of it. No matter what kind of day I’ve had, I would watch this show before turning out the lights and it would make me laugh. What a gift to give to someone you’ve never met. Still processing this loss. Shawna was our costume designer for the pilot of Frankentein (which was later renamed Second Chance). I can honestly say I was in awe of her. There are many people who are talented but very few who are visionaries. That is Shawna. An absolute visionary and an absolutely beautiful human being. A rarity. ♥️ If you’re a Star Wars fan, look her up. She’s been a part of your life. ♥️ She is someone you want to be around. Most importantly she loved, loved, loved her kids. You knew the type of mom she was in just a few minutes. She worked so hard for her passion but ultimately for them. I’m so sorry for her family right now. ♥️ I always wondered when and hoped we would work together again. But that won’t happen. Rest with angels, Shawna. This was too soon. 💔

That’s a wrap on my first short. So much to say about it but the most important thing I can say is I feel gratitude. 🎥 To my actors, my crew…everyone who came together to bring this vision to life. I will forever be thankful. 🎥 Now onto the next step in post but wow, what a ride it’s been so far. ♥️

I am so humbled be able to contribute as a voice of encouragement for kids and adults alike, alongside other inspiring humans. She Creates Change is based off of real life girls making incredible changes in their respective worlds. I was lucky enough to be a voice in Diksha’s story. Now, meet the real Diksha! 💃🏽I hope you’re as inspired by this young lady as I am. This angered her sister, who decided to help Diksha learn to see her own beauty and recognize the importance of diversity. This experience, coupled with the knowledge Diksha gained through Room to Read’s Girls’ Education Program, inspired Diksha to speak out against injustices in her community. I loved Fred Rogers and had the privilege of interviewing him for the Today Show. But this by far is my favorite Mister Rogers moment. ❤️❤️❤️ Fred Rogers first met Jeff Erlanger when he was five years old. Jeff’s parents, knowing he was about to have especially difficult spinal surgery, wanted to fulfill his wish to meet his longtime “television friend” Mister Rogers. When Fred was traveling to nearby Milwaukee, they had a chance to meet. Later, when Fred Rogers wrote a script that included the mention of a wheelchair, he had Jeff in mind. Mister Rogers didn’t dismiss Jeff’s disability or the difficult times “when you do feel sad.” He wanted to give Jeff a chance to talk about it and share those honest feelings with others. The ten-minute segment was unscripted and unrehearsed! Almost twenty years later, when Fred Rogers was inducted into the TV Hall of Fame of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Jeff Erlanger was brought in to introduce Fred to the audience. Fred was so delightfully surprised that he leaped up on stage. Erlanger became very active in Madison, Wisconsin municipal politics, holding a number of positions in the community including as a member of the Economic Development Commission, chair of the Commission on People with Disabilities, and chair of the Board of Directors of the Community Living Alliance. He helped gain the accessible taxicab service in Madison today. Erlanger died in June 2003. Thank you Mister Rogers for everything.
