Another full circle moment. The picture on the left was taken in Vancouver airport, the day we arrived to start shooting the #Riverdale pilot. The picture on the right was taken some seven years later. Ashleigh and Cami are even more gorgeous and luminous, glowing from within. Stunning beauties. ❤️⭐️🎬🎟️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Only two chapters left. One of my favorite scenes from this week’s episodes. Beautiful work from @melton and @kjapa . Tears. ❤️😢🚀💪🏼⭐️🏆🎬🙏🏼☠️
I’ve been wanting to post this photo for awhile; couldn’t land on the right combination of words to sum up my “Riverdale experience of the last seven (or eight, or ten) years. (Here are a few, though: Humility. Gratitude. Pride. Blessed. Lucky AF…) So I’ll leave it to Betty, who articulated it best (for me, at least) in our finale: “I know it’s impossible, but I wish we could stay in Riverdale forever, somehow. With all our friends. The way we were. Young and beautiful. Unafraid. Full of hope. Bursting with love for each other. And…alive. …I know that’s not possible…” I ❤️ all the people in this photo. And all of the people who worked on the show in front of and behind the camera. And all of the people who embraced it and joined us for the journey of not ONE lifetime…but TWO. #Riverdale Forever!!!! 🚀❤️🏆⭐️🌈💪🏼💃🏽🎭😇👼🏼🍒👠🕊️⏱️🌹💥🍔🎟️📹🗝️💔🏁
And then there were two. So clearly LOTS of tears and hugs on this week’s episode. And even more beautiful acting from @madchenamick and @lilireinhart ❤️⭐️💪🏼🎭🙏🏼🎬🔥🚀☠️
Throwback Thursday to PaleyFest a couple of years back. @erinnwestbrook and I both worked on “Glee” over a decade ago (!!), and our paths crossed oh-so-very briefly on the Paramount Lot. She played (brilliantly) an acid-tongued evil cheerleader named Bree. About a million miles away from who Erinn is in real-life. Fast-forward to our fifth season, when Erinn joined (in the middle of a pandemic, no less) our #Riverdale family as Pop’s warm-hearted, too-good-for-this-world granddaughter Tabitha Tate. And…eventually and inevitably…Angel Tabitha. Because OF COURSE Erinn’s an angel. 😇 Who kicked Percival to the curb, kept the multiverse from imploding, obtained the Holy Grail (!!), and broke our hearts (in the best way) multiple times. A class act, on-screen and off. 🥰😍 Erinn, it was a pleasure and an honor. We love Tabitha, but we love you more. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🚀⭐️🏆
Last Friday, we finally (!) wrapped “Pretty Little Liars: Summer School.” Season One, we wrote, prepped, and produced the show while still in the throes of the pandemic. Season Two faced…different challenges. 😉 Not the least being—finishing a summer-set storyline, post-strikes, in freezing, snowy December. In the desolate, tick-infested forests of the Catskill mountains. And through it all, these five ladies stayed the course and led the charge with their courage, class, professionalism, and unbreakable spirit. Very proud of and grateful to them. And to everyone who worked behind the scenes and in front of the cameras to make a season that’s deeper, richer, funnier, more beautiful, and WAY SCARIER than our first. Including and especially (goes without saying) hearts and souls Lindsay Bring and Jimmy Gibbons. Happy wrap and HAPPY SLASHING!!!! 🔪🔥💪🏼💄💥👻🎲🎃🐈⬛🎭☠️

Starting the goodbyes with a Throwback Thursday to the first time we met @shannonpurser. Casting director extraordinaire @davidrapaport brought her by the Riverdale writers room as a surprise, just as we breaking our third episode of Season One, which was set to introduce the character of…Ethel Muggs. We were such super-fans of Shannon, we all geeked-out and couldn’t believe she was at the Burbank Studios! And I believe that same day we asked her if she wanted to be Ethel. She said yes, and the rest is pop culture history. Last night, a beautiful, resilient, smiling Ethel drove off towards a technicolor, limitless future. 😍😰 Shannon, it was a pleasure and honor. We love Ethel, but we love you more. 🎬🎟️🚗⭐️🚀💪🏼🎯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The penultimate episode. Time enough for one. Last. Dance-off. 💃🏽🏆🎟️🔥⭐️🚀☠️
Back in 2007, my first job in Hollywood was as a staff writer for HBO’s polygamist (!) family drama “Big Love.” I wrote my first episode of television that season—did my first stint covering set. Got to work with an incredible group of actors, including the gorgeously talented @ginnifergoodwin, playing Bill Paxton’s youngest wife Marge, her first series regular role. A lot of life has happened to us since then. We’ve been fortunate enough to have the opportunities to tell lots of stories. Proud to be reunited with her today at Paramount. #wgastrong #sagaftrastrong 💪🏼🎬🎟️🎭💄❤️🚀🏆
Never has there been a group of burn-outs more eager to get back to summer school…even as winter comes upon us… 13 lucky/unlucky days to go… Congrats to @sagaftra! Time to finish strong!!! #PLL: Summer School is COMING SOON…🔥🔪☠️🩸👠🎭💥👻💪🏼🕯️🎃⭐️🚀
Three years ago this week, my father was in Nicaragua. While my mother watched, helpless and horror-struck, he was pulled out of his car and “disappeared” by members of Ortega’s military police—illegally incarcerated in Managua’s notorious El Chipote federal prison along with over two hundred other political prisons. It was the start of a surreal, nightmarish time for my family. We all feared the worst—that we would never see him alive again. Then, a few months ago, all of the political prisoners were awoken in the middle of the night and put on a plane to Washington, DC. Free, but stripped of their Nicaraguan citizenship and personal possessions. I saw my father, briefly, when that happened—my mom was still in Nicaragua—but this last week, our entire family was finally able to reunite for the first time since this ordeal began. Eternally grateful for what can only be described as a miracle (even though Nicaragua’s political and humanitarian struggles continue). These sorts of stories rarely have happy ending. Thanks to some higher power, this one did. Will never, ever take that for granted. 🙏🏼❤️🚀🇺🇸☮️💪🏼
As previously posted, questions will be answered and mysteries will be solved. (And the ponytail is BACK!!!) 🚗 👠🔥🍔🎟️🎭💃🏽🏆👑🔥🚀☠️

@kevinrodneysullivan appreciation post time. Over the last seven years, Kevin directed several chapters of #Riverdale, starting with our homecoming ep Season One. He called each episode a movie and pushed, gently and relentlessly, to make each one special. They’re all beautiful, including the ep that airs this week, Josie’s triumphant return. Over the years, Kevin’s become a friend and confidant. Every conversation I have with Kevin, I learn something new about him. That, as an actor, he’d been one of Fonzie’s friends on “Happy Days.” That he’d been a writer on “Fame.” That he was in “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai.” He’s a champion and cheerleader for young actors, writers, and directors. (And not-so-young directors.)😉 May we have many more conversations, Kevin, many more collaborations. Looking forward to the next time we’re able to work together again. In the meantime, thank you, friend. 🚀🎟️🎭🏆🎬⭐️
Who (or what) is “Moloch”…and will Cheryl be able to stop them/it? 👠💄⭐️🔥🎭🎟️🏆🔥☠️
If you have to finish shooting a summer-set season of slasher horror in the woods in upstate New York in TWENTY-DEGREE WEATHER, make sure it’s with this dynamic duo—co-creator/writer extraordinaire @lindsaycbring and unflappable, unstoppable director/genius @robseidenglanz. “PLL: Summer School” is coming soooooon…. 🏆⭐️🔪🦅🍁🚗💪🏼🔥💄🌪️🌈🎲🎭☠️
Serendipity. A stormy day. A cancelled flight. A lottery ticket. A very special production of “Uncle Vanya” is happening in a 40-seat secret space in the Flatiron District for the next week. Beautifully performed by all-star cast of New York theater luminaries, including a knock-out performance by @juliacchan as Yelena. Wow. Wowowowwow. Loved this unexpected reunion. Took me back to simpler times. And made me wistful for what a short, but gorgeous, dream-filled ride #KatyKeene was. 😍😰❤️ 💄💃🏽🧵👠👗
Archie versus Uncle Frank (and guess who’s got Mary Andrews in their corner). 🎟️🚀🇺🇸🔥🏆👗🎭☠️
Wow, wow, wow, had a bloody EXCELLENT time in Chicago at the production of “American Psycho: The Musical” I wrote with @theduncansheik that @dvbarham directed and @kokandyprods is putting on through November 28th! @_kyle_patrick is a to-die-for Patrick Bateman leading an incredible, fully committed company of wonderful actors, including a hilarious @caleighpankita as Patrick’s fiancé Eveyln and a beautiful, too-good-for-this-world @soniagoldberg as Patrick’s secretary Jean. If you’re in the Windy City or going to be passing through, seek it out! Will definitely be catching it again before it closes!! 🔪🩸☠️🎭🏆🚀
Wow. Okay. This is truly the End of an Era. Carole Rothman is stepping down as Artistic Director of 2econd Stage Theater in NYC after co-founding it and leading it for 45 years. Carole’s mission was unimpeachable: To produce LIVING American playwrights and to give emerging writers their first professional production in the Big Apple. Which she did for me, when she committed to producing my ghost story show “The Mystery Plays” while I was still at the Drama School. Later, she would produce my prep school thriller “Good Boys and True” with such young actors as Brian J. Smith, Chris Abbott and Betty Gilpin making their professional debuts. Beyond that, Carole let me sit in a cubicle outside her office for three years as the playwright-in-residence at 2econd Stage. Always mentoring and encouraging me. We became friends, and she’s followed my career in television and film enthusiastically, but she would end every one of our conversations with: “But when are you gonna write me a new play?” Well, because of this darn strike, I HAVE been writing a new play called “Press the Flesh.” Almost finished, but not in time for Carole’s last season, though I know who it’s going to be dedicated to… 🎭🚀❤️🏆⭐️👠🌈🌪️
