This was my mommy pose from last week. Right after this, my daughter and I got in a terrible car accident.
We both have been checked out and X-rayed, etc.
But, my God, it was traumatizing.
I usually don’t like to post things that are too personal, but I need to share how truly grateful I am to our Guardian Angels and being able to have another day. Last Friday, we were on the expressway and the car in front of me slowed down a lot. I slowed down and we would have been fine, but the guy in back of us did not slow down.
He smashed into my car and pushed us into the car in front of us and we smashed into him.
My car was completely totaled. Not drivable.
The cars in back and in front were totaled. My daughter was screaming because she was scared. I checked her quickly and nothing was broken. She was so scared.
I had the wind knocked out of me and I couldn’t breathe or move my legs for a few minutes. My nail was split and broken off and my whole right hand was banged up. There were lots of other little things.
But we were able to walk away from the car.
We are home and safe and I thank the Lord that my daughter is ok.

I am more thankful this year than I have ever been. With all of the unrest in the world it feels even more poignant to surround ourselves with good intentions and love.
Having our health, a warm, safe home, food to eat, being able to walk away from a devastating car wreck makes the important stuff even more precious. I am so grateful and thankful.
Btw, this photo is in Tlaquepaque Mexico. One of my favorite places. Tlaquepaque is a word from the Nahuatl Native Aztec Indian language. Some people think it mean “the best of everything.” Some people think it means “place on knolls of clay land”.
I prefer “the best of everything”.

We lost one of the greatest ones today. Norman Lear was a pioneer in television, politics and life. He completely changed the face of television with his groundbreaking shows. They were heartfelt, heartbreaking, in your face and at the same time hilarious. The man loved people. All people.
I had the great honor to work for him and know him just a little.
A few years ago I had a meeting with him about a new show. My dad had just passed away and I wasn’t taking meetings, but when Norman Lear wants to go have lunch…you go. Being with him reminded me of my father and I could not stop crying. Seriously. I couldn’t control myself. He sat with me. Held my hand and had me talk about my dad for an hour. I didn’t do the show, but it was the best meeting I ever had. Rest in Peace, you great human. I love you. The world loves you. We will miss your kindness and brilliance.
