He completely changed the face of television with his groundbreaking shows. They were heartfelt, heartbreaking, in your face and at the same time hilarious. The man loved people. All people. I had the great honor to work for him and know him just a little. A few years ago I had a meeting with him about a new show. My dad had just passed away and I wasn’t taking meetings, but when Norman Lear wants to go have lunch…you go. Being with him reminded me of my father and I could not stop crying. Seriously. I couldn’t control myself. He sat with me. Held my hand and had me talk about my dad for an hour. I didn’t do the show, but it was the best meeting I ever had. Rest in Peace, you great human.
