Sooo…
I have just seen that Mr F put out a beautiful reel, with lovely photos and a tune that has made me cry, to celebrate the fact that 10 years ago tonight we met on a blind date that would change our lives forever. 6 years ago tonight we got married. And tonight we celebrated by making fajitas with the kids and watching I’m A Celebrity. This is us now, 11pm, glasses on, reading in bed, me with my retainer in. I’m putting this picture out because for all lovely photos and dressing up, this is where our marriage and our relationship happens- at home, doing normal stuff, and dealing with all the ups, downs, ins and outs that come with being a blended family. And I am so happy with that.
I love, and am loved in return.
That’s the greatest gift I could ask for.
Happy anniversary Mr F.
I love you. ❤️
Heading out-out tonight for the @childrenwithcanceruk charity event with Mr F.

Having some #halloween fun with friends tonight. The theme is ‘red’…
The dress is from @zara and the boots from @primark The wig is from a random fancy dress shop in London. I’ve no idea what I ‘am’ but I’m feeling spy vibes… 👀

4 things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work.
It was a busy week this week with lovely things. Nothing fancy, but my favourite things: family, friends and spending a night away with Nick.
1. Sunday lunch with friends @aarti.parmar and @hp7575 So good to catch up, and share thoughts and visions for 2024!
2. Had a lie in with @teddymcfeen for company. Just looking at his little face literally fills me with joy.
3. The face of proud mum and step dad. We went to see Amy in a college show. 🤩🥰
4. It’s Christmaaaaasssss!!! I wish I could leave these up all year round, they’re so pretty. 🎄

Took the family ‘out out’ tonight to watch the brand new The Hunger Games. So good!
Thank you @concordemedialondon

This week’s Midlife Conversation theme is all about over-apologising. Even when things aren’t your fault. Like, oh I don’t know… when a pap smear doesn’t go quite according to plan, and YOU say sorry. And yes, this really happened. 🫣

4 things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work…
I had an unexpectedly social week this week which was great! I met up with friends, old and new. I did a lot of walking which was great for getting my steps in – I’ve been stuck in front of a laptop for a few weeks now working on some new things, so it’s been really good to get out the house. I don’t have pictures of everything I did, so @carriegrantsays and @davidgrantsays_ I hope you know how much I LOVED spending time having fabulous food and great conversation with you! I also popped over to mum and dads and spent hours just gassing, which is always nice.
1. Dinner with my friend Jane. We were christened together as children – that’s how long we’ve known each other! Sooooo good to catch up.
2. Post recording dinner and drinks with this lovely lot! We are so excited about the launch of our brand new podcast Mastering Midlife – coming soon!
3. Went for a walk with Nick, after he was finally mobile enough to head out. He has had a bad back for a month now, and it’s really taken it out of him, bless him. We had a spur of the moment “why not?” pop into a bar / restaurant for a cocktail, which led to dinner then wobbling home. It’s nice to do something not sensible every now and then! I especially enjoy going to places when I’m not dressed up for them – cocktails at a bar when I’m dressed for a dog walk? Perfect! 😂
4. I made a Sunday roast and we all ended up playing our own made up version of the Pitch Perfect Riff Off, where instead of singing at each other (which would be dreadful 😅) we had to quickly go on Spotify and find another song to follow up with. Hours of fun, (and still some truly dreadful singing). Followed by binge watching and getting very competitive over old episodes of Catchphrase (our favourite show) and then I’m A Celebrity.
A perfect week! What four things did you do this week to fill your cup that had nothing to do with work?

It was our anniversary this week, and we managed to have a lovely night and day away to just STOP and spend time together that wasn’t to do with family or work. Not on the actual day, but close enough!
We were really lucky and were offered the chance to stay at @champneysspas for a night, where we relaxed, ate great food, both had acupuncture and massage for bad backs 🥴 For people who work and live together it takes going somewhere else for a moment to shake you out of ‘Parent’ and ‘Work Partner’ mode and look at each other with a fresh pair of eyes. Which we did, even if felt like a nanosecond later we were back in the thick of things again!
Thank you @champneysspas for a lovely stay.

For any of us who work from home, finding a quiet spot away from the hustle and bustle of home life is tricky. And for most of us, that means tucking ourselves away in our bedroom to make video calls and work on our computer.
That’s all understandable – I do it as well! – but did you know that it’s killing you? Using our bedroom as a work space, without clearing everything away to make it a peaceful haven of rest and recuperation means that we aren’t relaxing enough to get a good night’s sleep, which over time impacts our physical and mental wellbeing. Best case scenario is you feel groggy and grumpy. Worst case scenario it impairs brain function and affects our immune system, with potentially lethal effects.
Your bedroom should only be used for two things – sex and sleep. anything that detracts from that at bedtime needs to go!

This week’s conversation is a MUST SEE if you are rubbish with money. In fact, even if you are pretty savvy with money, you will still come away with some tips that will help you change the way you think about your bank balance behaviour. Laura and Holly are just BRILLIANT at tacking a subject that can be dry and scary and making it relatable and doable. My favourite combination.

Yes you can be confident and insecure at the same time! Which is a huge relief to most of us… TV host and comedian Tom Allen aka @tomindeed is a master at this, as Viv Groskop explains. Click to watch in full 👉 https://youtu.be/Dqb-7lPOQiM?si=QVuPza5sBpraNUMW
