A whistle stop look at my day in Hull, as keynote speaker at the @sailors_childrens_society lunch. Supported by @heysmilefoundation this incredible charity offers financial and emotional support to children and families from seafaring backgrounds in times of crisis. It was a big ‘do’, attended by 500 women, (and a couple of men). I didn’t write a speech. It might sound strange, to turn up at an event knowing you’re going to have to give a half hour long talk, and not write a speech. But I’ve learned that the best talks are the ones that come from the heart, and are relevant to the audience. How many events have you been to where you KNOW the speaker has just unfolded the same crumpled sheets of paper that they used at the last event, and the one before? The biggest skill a presenter has is being able to listen, not just talk. Spending a full day somewhere (I didn’t show that in the video) and get a feel for what will resonate, is key. Of course I had done my research on the charity and the event beforehand, it’s not a case of turning up and winging it. It’s about knowing what you’re able to bring, using the ingredients of the day mixed in with your own stories and learnings. A bit like Ready, Steady, Cook* – but with talking. I loved today. I loved how up for it everyone was. How they wanted to enjoy the day and have fun. Until next time Hull! *For anyone too young to understand what I meant, Ready, Steady, Cook was a TV show where contestants had a certain amount of time to cook a great dish using ingredients they were given on the day. It was great. A bit chaotic and not always successful but terrific fun. Much like me. 😁 (A big thank you to @cherylkhicks for being my wingwoman today, and for her expert filming 😄)
Black Eyed Peas… Both are relevant today. 😅 Yup. I’ve got a shiner. I wish that I had a super exciting story as to why. I didn’t leap from a moving car or parachute off a building. Nope. I just woke up yesterday morning and got out of bed too fast, I guess before I’d properly woken up. By the time I’d walked the few steps to the bathroom I thought: “I don’t feel too good..” and fainted. I landed on my face. Literally face planted onto the bathroom floor. I have been checked out at A&E and thankfully my cheekbone isn’t broken, and I won’t lose any teeth. I was really lucky. Lesson learned. Take a moment. I’m not quite ‘better’ yet. To the few hundred women I’m speaking on stage in front of tomorrow in Hull, excuse the shiner. 🤦🏻♀️ Oh. And Black Eyed Peas because I have a black eye and I spent most of yesterday with a bag of peas on my face. 😅
Very happy to be GOING OUT!! First time in forever. I am wearing heels, and can’t remember how to walk in them. I’m wearing PERFUME! I’m in a taxi going somewhere fancy where I only know one person so I’m a bit nervous, but also excited. Nervouscited is what I always told my children to call it. Let’s go… #outout
I found my old diaries in a box my parents kept in their loft. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ 👆link above.
Just wanted to say thank you for being so nice. 😊 This photo was taken 60 seconds ago. I didn’t realise my hair looks so crazy and my chin gets so red when I rest it on my hand. #goodtoknow

👀 Another sneak peak behind the scenes training with the amazing Andrea McLean (@andreamclean1), focusing on LIST (Low Impact Strength Training) – the best form of exercise for women around menopause! 💪 Andrea’s been a little run down lately after being hit by a couple of winter colds, but the beauty of LIST training is we can scale it up or down to accommodate. In this session we focused on slow, controlled movements using moderate-heavy weights. Unlike high-intensity workouts, LIST helps keep cortisol levels low, which is great for not overdoing it when not feeling 100% and it’s key around menopause to avoid triggering the Weight Gain Triangle (more info on what this is in our free guide). It’s also essential for maintaining & building muscle mass and bone density, which are both so crucial as women age (and both decline from age 40 onwards without the right exercise & nutrition approaches). Lastly, having more muscle allows your body to tolerate higher levels of sugar in the diet without gaining fat – something that’ll help with Andrea’s little Xmas treat selection that Rob spotted 🍫 All our TRINITY clients focus on LIST (low-impact strength training) and when combined with the right nutrition approach, lose on average 12.9lbs within their first 12 weeks and tone up all over. They also gain energy, confidence, and many feel a renewed zest for life! Want to find out the secret to results like this around menopause? 📘We have put together a Free Menopause Weight Loss Guide that reveals how our 6500 private coaching clients drop 1-2 dress sizes in 12 weeks or less 👇Comment below with “GUIDE” and we’ll send it over to you 👇 #trinitytransformation #fitover40 #womensheath #bellyfat #menopausebelly #bellyexercises
