Did you know that this is my 5th Calendar?!? 🤯📅 I first got started when I was asked to be a part of the Hot British Babes… & it was (well- that chocolate shot 😂) Inspired by the creative possibilities, I thought I’d have a go at making my own. 😅 Next came the Kweens Calendar- shooting with 2 gorgeous friends @hcauchi & @sophierfharding 👑 This was great fun & I loved creating the brand image of KWEENS. However it was a bit more lads mags vibes & not totally in line with what I really wanted to do. Then I shot a with @swanandsilk 🦢 Her photography is *always* stunning. It was an intense 3 days, over several locations & I still treasure many of these shots! Last year I left it quite late & ended up self shooting. That came with its own challenges & adventures 😂 (turning my house upside down including hanging my fluffy rug up as a backdrop 🫣). And now, for 2024, I’ve shot in the Isle of Sheppy with @officialpaulgibbsphotographer (& MUA @louisejohnmakeup) ✨ I feel like I’ve learnt so much over the years, as I push myself harder & further outside my comfort zone, to explore my creativity through crafting my calendars- this year even braving the sea… in NOVEMBER 😂😂😂 & I honestly think this is going to be my best one yet 🤭🤭 Thank you to those people who continue to support me each year- it really does mean a lot to me ♥️ I wonder if anyone out there got all 5 of my calendars?!? My UN-funk-er 😅 Yes this is my go-to item to get me out of my sad spell 🥹 I mean HOW could anyone mope around in this gorgeous gown?!? It just oozes ✨joy✨ I have visions of being whisked away to a chic hotel in Paris, lounging by an Eiffel Tower view window, nibbling on freshly baked (gluten free lol) pastries & sipping on a bottle of freshly popped champagne 🍾 It’s ✨Le Dream✨ Haha. REMEMBER- Feel the FEAR & do it anyway 🤭 For true courage is not the absence of fear, but in the triumph over it 🙌🏼 I remember feeling a bit scared the first year I made a calendar. Like WHO did I think I was 😂 Certainly not a celebrity or anyone of real significance. Not someone most people would expect to produce a sexy calendar. 😆 Would anyone even buy one? And worse- would they like them…? But an idea had sparked inside me. ✨ And so I squished the scared feeling deep down inside me- and I did it anyway. 🙌🏼 I challenged myself to see what I could achieve. And well. Here we are, still going strong on Year 4 🥰🙏🏼 My calendars have not only become a key source of financial support of my film career- but also an exciting creative challenge (one that I admittedly moan about for months, get worry knots tied up in my stomach over & still have to fend off the scary doubt cloud that wants to rain me off- as I pour literally HOURS of my life into tweaking every last detail, until I finally produce something I think is magical 🥰). But I believe my calendars aren’t really about me. 🙈 Yes there’s some nice photos to look at 😅 And yes that’s why most people purchase them 😝 But they have a higher purpose for me. When I realised I was not just able to offer a small source of joy, drip fed as the pages turned all year round, but I had an opportunity to speak into these peoples lives. Even in a teeny tiny way. (Remember the “hang on in there” Cat posters?! 😂🐱) And so I began adding small inspirational quotes to each month, in the hope that it might help someone, someday. Even in a small way. You see the small things are what make the big differences in the end. And so as you turn the page each month, as your eyes glance over to where it hangs, as you dig it out the drawer- I hope that the words might encourage you. That they might inspire you. You HAVE to do things at the pace that’s right for you. Rushing doesn’t do any good for anyone. 🙏🏼🎥♥️ I have been getting so many well intended messages asking how my film @asraifilm is going, when we are shooting- even when can they watch it (omg soooo long to go lol) but the pressure I feel to rush myself along mounts every day. I was so lucky to get to do a second recce in Italy last month- the amount I learned & grew- as a woman & a filmmaker- was invaluable. 🇮🇹 It has enriched the script & story- but more so my life. ✨ And I hope- no I PLAN- to return to learn even more at least 2-3 times more before cameras go up 🥹 This film is something so special to me. I am investing so much of myself, my time & money- because I really do believe in it. I believe it will do great things. The HONEST truth- it doesn’t happen overnight 🥺 Anyone striving to make a living in a creative industry KNOWS the battle. ⚔️ Wether you’re a dancer flipping burgers between ballet shows 🩰, a potter spinning the wheel after your 9-5 or an actor pot washing to pay for Cannes 🧼 (that was legit me 6 years ago 👀) it’s the same struggle for us all. Those bills gotta be paid. 💰 Then you need to invest in the courses to help you learn, the ever updating technology & dreaded social presence (which is becoming more & more essential in this modern era)- but life doesn’t stop churning because you need cash to fund the dream- your kid still needs new shoes & your car door handle might fall off (it might even happen 3 times) ((yes that’s me again 😂)) AND you still need to be a Mum, Sister, Daughter, Aunty, Friend- even someday a Wife 🥹 I have seen far too many people in the film biz painfully sacrificing everything in the hopes that they might “make it”- and forgetting to enjoy the magic of life along the way. After all it’s the joy you find in the journey that really matters. 🙏🏼 Yes you can miss a few Christmas dinners, a few friends birthday parties, a few drinks out with the girls. 🥂 But if you miss them ALL- then what kind of tapestry of life are you even weaving? After all, you can’t always stitch in the same colour. 🪡 We MUST learn to weave the threads of family time, friendship building, life experiences & filling the piggy bank around chasing what sets our soul on fire 🔥 And so, as I sit here writing this post in my breaks at this event today, wishing I’d already found a stable solution to these filler jobs (& wishing these filler jobs actually paid a decent check 🙄) I am reminded that 👉🏼 although some days it might feel like you’re loosing the battle 👈🏼 every thread has a purpose & together they are spinning something beautiful 🩷 #femalefilmmaker #femaleempowerment #actress #actor #jobbingactor #unfunkmylife

It’s no secret that breaking into the film industry takes more than the magic 3 T’s drilled into us back in the day!! (tits, teeth & talent 😐) I’d argue there’s a far superior T they missed- TENACITY. Sadly there’s often sacrifices that have to be made, when tenaciously following your dreams. You sometimes have to decide wether to miss that Nativity play or miss that deadline. Wether to bail out on a family BBQ or not attend a networking event- where your next investor could be waiting for you! It can be so hard to know what is best. For your future. For your family. For your film. I loved the analogy I once heard about juggling balls. Bare with me haha. I will paraphrase, hopefully not too badly, but basically they said in life we are juggling so many balls. Some of them are plastic and some of them are glass. When glass ones fall, they shatter. But the plastics bounce. When things get overwhelming & you’re being pulled multiple ways- You have to look at what things are MOST important to you- your glass balls. Focus on not dropping them. The day before my @thegrannydj pick up shoot, I still had many things on my prep list. This shoot meant a lot to me, as I’ve agonised over the last year about how to fix this project (after the initial shoot not going quite go to plan 🙈) It also happened to be one of the busiest days in my calendar for family commitments. My daughter was carrying the flag in the Remembrance Parade (after walking for several years this was her first time being given this duty!) I had also promised we’d see the film The Marvels my little Marvel obsessed girl obviously LOVED IT (especially the Flerkins 😂) & we were having a late family Bonfire night (which I had already asked them to delay as I was shooting my calendar over Nov 5th!). It was an impossible decision to choose between these precious family events & doing the work that HAD to be done. So I dropped my Sleep ball. Went to all the events. Had a wonderful time. Made memories. Then stayed up half the night getting the work done. Thankfully it all went well. The tasks got finished. The shoot went amazingly. But it’s not easy. Not for any of us. ♥️

Huge thanks @everymancinema for hosting this launch of @soundtrackinguk with @edibow & first guest Q&A @emerald_fennell1 💗🎶 When the end credits rolled, I almost felt speechless- especially that last scene. I’m telling you that left an impressionnnn. & not for the obvious reasons (if you know YOU KNOW). To me what stood out it was the COURAGE. Sometimes filmmakers might have an idea that’s WILD. Too wild to believe with certainty that the world is ready for it. This film feels like Emerald didn’t even consider the judgment of others she let her mind run WILD. 🤪 I love dark thrillers. More so I LOVE bold brave filmmaking. 🎥✨ This was absolutely that.
