Alexis and Zen were born on Skid Row. When we met them back in August they were already 5 months old. They were starving and thirsty. Kept in a dog bag for most of their young lives or tied to a bike or a fence or anything that was convenient. Alexis was petrified and wouldn’t let us near here but slowly week after week we gained her trust. Along with their owner’s trust. Finally after 3 long months he surrendered the puppies and their dad Juju to us, @startswithonetoday and @jennsims10 🐾🙏🏼 We brought them home. Bathed them. Fed them good food. Gave them soft beds and made them feel safe for the first time ever. No more rat infested streets, no more sleeping in their own feces and urine. No more eating trash. No more being left in the sun. No more chaos. We got them spayed, vaccinated and microchipped through @underdogcommunityproject and @aspca Then they were off to their amazing foster home @jenhwalters and @kemble_walters to learn how to be puppies with @bowieoftheday as their mentor. They are the sweetest girls with very different personalities- Alexis is energetic and curious. She could play all day or scour the yard for rocks and leaves. Zen is very playful but also a bit more chill. Both need basic training 🐾 They would both do well in homes with other dogs as they have never been an only dog. Please consider adopting Alexis or Zen (or both). I’m grateful for so many people in my life in particular my mom. She’s a warrior against Parkinson’s Disease & a sassy Puerto Rican woman who reminds me to live life to the fullest whatever the situation is & to always be kind. My acting teacher @howard_l_fine just released the second edition of his book Fine on Acting! 📕 🎉 My peers & I got to celebrate with him. It was a beautiful night with many of us sharing our connection to Howard, our love for him & the craft. I can’t wait to dive into A Vision of The Craft Fine on Acting! I revisit Howard’s first book all the time. There are so many 🎭💎 I don’t think Howard knows the impact that he’s made on my acting career or myself. He taught me that I can do this. Acting. This came after I had already worked in the industry & had credits. The thing is I didn’t have a craft. I was sort of just flying by the seat of my pants. After my first year in LA I hit a wall. I was no longer the new face in town. Bookings were more spread out and I knew there was something missing in my work. That’s when I took Howard’s foundations class. I went straight to the basics & took a deep dive into the craft. I was very lucky to be in the class he chose to teach all the way through the curriculum. He was revamping the program. One day he invited me into his master class. I was over the moon but I had to make the decision to take a break because I started working again. Years later I took his intensive & I remember Howard telling me “this is your acting gym. You’re always welcomed.” 😊 So when the world shut down & I heard Howard was teaching online, I jumped at the chance to get back in class. It’s been wonderful to stay creative throughout quarantine & the writers/actors strike with students from around the world who are now family. Thank you @howardfine @howardfinestudio for creating a space for actors to continue growing & playing.
