Amaal Mallik Instagram – #SoorajDoobaHai enters its 10th year 🥳 The song that didn’t let me quit my music career & took me on a journey from my studio room, right into your hearts. A decade later, it doesn’t seem to have quit winning hearts & I’m truly proud to see that I could create atleast one such song that will be remembered as a song that defined my generation. It defied rules & became the most undisputed song of 2015 when there were innumerable incredible soundtracks by industry stalwarts, beautifully roaring to keep the flag of Indian music right where it belongs 🇮🇳 But this baby of mine came in like a tornado to shake things up in almost every department 🌪️ – The sonics – The lyric – The 4 bar pre-chorus that becomes a 5 bar pre-chorus in the stanzas 🤔💭 It was totally my brainwave to get the biggest superstar of romantic songs, you know who 💆🏻‍♂️ to change gears & sing something he himself was quite unsure of singing, and only God knows why, literally ! He even suggested a top singer of the time who he was personally gonna call and ask to sing this one for me…Whatta guy ! I was adamant & very sure that it’s either this voice or no one. The label & the producers were really stressed that I was delaying the shoot mix, hence I sang it in my voice and sent it for shoot, it took time but a few months later the singer agreed….Phew ! In came @arijitsingh with the most sweep you off your feet kinda powerful and wholesome singing, filled with subtle undertones of romance along with his sparring partner who took the challenge head on with her mighty vocals; @adtsinghsharma owned this one & how ⭐️♥️ The journey of #SoorajDoobaHai – After the debacle of my work in my debut film I sat at home for a year, went back to pursue M.com at Mumbai University as the reviews and paid/unpaid PR to write me off were in full swing. 2 major publications tore me apart and called me a misfit and titled the article not a chip of the old block post the failure of my first song from the mammoth #JaiHo I caved in at 23 & I started to fade into oblivion 😞 Pt.1
