I chose to run into the fire and gave up my entire career for this fight because of what is at stake in our country, and California.
Those who recognize how hard and yet how worthy the battle is, and without prompting have been my biggest champions, I fricken love you for it. You are the true changemakers, and the reason I believe there is hope for California.
And of course, to our daughter, I hope she realizes why her mother took this on in the midst of pregnancy. There is nothing more important than securing a better future for her and her generation.
