One of the most defining experiences of my life, and what led to me being a journalist and now to running for U.S. Senate, started when I was a kid.
A family member I love deeply, a personal hero, went through mental health and addiction challenges— I learned good people can do bad things. I also thought about what the trajectory of their life would’ve looked like had they had early intervention and resources, which we need now more than ever. We are living in a mental health crisis, and we need to treat it like the emergency it is.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share my vision for a California and America where we bring back decency to leadership, an environment where leaders gain traction based on their effectiveness and not their polarization.
The Dream Center funds programs to address chronic societal problems within the inner cities. They connect economically and socially marginalized individuals with a supportive community, which is key to breaking down barriers. A heartfelt thank you for having me, and for all the impactful work that you do.
