I cannot say anything that has not already been said about what a genuinely incredible, kind, hilarious, warm, and loving woman, mother, and sister we lost yesterday. @ceciliagentili72 we love you. We will miss you.
As a survivor of emotional abuse, the current mass gaslighting that turns fighting for peace for one people into violence against another is a triggering reminder of a time when my reality was denied me. While I do not believe anything going on today is complicated, I would like to share how I handle morally complicated situations. When faced with moral grayness, I ask myself who my beliefs place me in solidarity with. Do my beliefs place me in the company of people who believe there is never justification for the bombing and deaths of 20,000 people? Or do my beliefs place me in solidarity with the US who labeled/labels The Black Panthers, Martin Luther King Jr, and 12 year old Black boys as terrorists? We are all being forced to question reality. As you do, ask yourself who your beliefs place you in solidarity with.
I may be a day late but I’m never a dollar short! Yesterday was the @theblacktransprayerbook ‘s annual ritual of #TransphobiaIsASin created by @jmaseiii and @ladydanefe. J Mase III is a poet of our souls and minds whose words provide me with comfort, inspiration and grounding year long year after year. @ladydanefe leaves me speechless every day. Her presence. Her sense of care. Her artistry. Her storytelling. To be in her community is a gift that I remain constantly grateful for. Words are powerful and important to me. Those who can weave them with such precision as Lady Dane and J Mase are gifts and healers to our community. Thank you both for this ritual of care and thank you for the many other ways you care for us throughout the year!
