PLEASE listen to nine courageous Jewish students who delivered firsthand accounts of the antisemitic violence spreading like wildfire on their college campuses.
These students shared their testimony with United States lawmakers on Capitol Hill during an hours long round table discussion on Feb. 29, 2024.
These students attend HARVARD, UPENN, COLUMBIA, MIT, STANFORD, Tulane, Rutgers, UC BERKELEY, and COOPER UNION.
These kids are not responsible for the actions of racist policies in a country across the globe. Just as Muslims should not have been attacked for the actions of ISIS after 9/11, so too, Jews around the globe should not be violently attacked and discriminated against because of Netanyahu’s government’s response to the terrorist attack of 10/7.
Please. Please. We must be responsible for keeping all students safe on college campuses. If the universities are unwilling to take action, then the federal government must. US tax dollars are supporting this degradation of civility. No jew is celebrating this war. Please.
If you have kids in college who are passionate, speak to them. There is a difference between peaceful protest and threatening persecution.

Addendum— At a time when there are calls for Israel’s annihilation and statements that it should not exist, this was a welcomed statement of support. This is true AND it is also true that there is far too much death and destruction in Gaza, and the war must end. I prayed Hamas would accept the deal offered, but it’s clear they don’t want a ceasefire. But every Jew does. No one celebrates the horrific pain and suffering we are witnessing in Gaza. We simply want Hamas to be prevented from carrying out another massacre (which they have promised). 1000s of terrorists have been killed, and miles of tunnels have been destroyed, along with military bunkers and arsenals. I wish the global community would unite and demand the release of the hostages so this can stop. I truly believed if every person concerned with the innocent people in Gaza would protest for the release of the hostages, the public pressure could bring this all to an end.

I had the privilege of spending the evening with 900 women at congregation Shaarey Zedek in Detroit. The women-only evening was a celebration of community and the profound impact that women can have on the world. I spoke about my Jewish upbringing, being a Jewish woman in Hollywood, HIV/AIDS activism in Africa, and of course the massacre of October 7th. I shared stories of my time spent in Israel before Christmas and spoke about hope and resilience being the center of our heritage. It was very healing to be in community with these women.
