Kelsey Edwards Instagram – my anxiety used to take the reins on a bad day. if i woke up with sweaty palms and a fast beating heart, it was game over for the rest of the day.
i’d literally be incapable of doing anything besides feeling stressed with my mind racing at a million miles per hour.
it wasn’t until i understood the cause of anxiety (a dysregulated nervous system) that i learned specific tools to help calm me down.
but here’s the secret to allowing any of these tools to work: you have to give yourself grace and accept yourself exactly where you’re at. THAT specifically is what’s helped me move through anxiety time and time again.
“but i want the anxiety to be gone… isn’t accepting it counterintuitive?”
no, because when we fight against ourselves and what our body is asking for, we actually quiet our intuition. we tell our mind & body that we know better, and we create unnecessary resistance in every part of our lives.
when we use tools to honor the thoughts and feelings happening within our body, we allow our nervous system to regulate in a natural way, rather than trying to force the feelings down and pretend they don’t exist.
that is a recipe for disaster, let me tell ya 🙂
