Iranians/Persians have been celebrating the first day of the spring as their new year for centuries.
This poem, written in the Persian ghazal form, celebrates the Persian New Year (Nowruz) and the joy of spring. Attributed to the 10th-century poet Rudaki, it begins by praising the God of Spring for bringing new life after winter. The poem then honors Jamshid, the legendary king credited with founding Nowruz, emphasizing his legacy and the spiritual significance of the season.
