Second band practice and it’s going amazingly well!! @poweredbyflav on lead guitar and vocals, @jarrettborba on the skins and @imdeanmcdermott on the bass. I love these guys. Their teaching me so much. My only wish is that I had of done this in my 20’s. I didn’t because I was afraid of failing, and I still might. But that’s NOT stopping me this time. I try and teach my kids to not be afraid of failing. I’m using my experience with fear to show them what NOT to do. Don’t let fear paralyze you. Fear is a dream crusher. I’m also showing them that it’s never to late. I’m in a post punk band at 56 years old and loving it. All you parents out there, please encourage your kids and loved ones to shoot their shot. Fall flat on your face and get back up swinging. I once appeared on reality TV, and it was as real as it gets. Just moments before @imdeanmcdermott and @torispelling called me about planning the “Booby Bash,” I had learned that I had two tumors in my brain… This was about two years ago and I had just finished a Zoom meeting with my oncologist and a new neurologist (I had never needed one before this), when they broke the news to me. I could have sulked in the news and given into the fear that we might not be able to rid my brain of the tumors. And honestly, that would have been totally understandable. But, I’m so lucky to have friends who lift me up even when they’re in shock themselves. Their reactions in this scene were completely genuine, as they were hearing this information for the first time. It’s a moment I never would have been able to capture on my own, and I’m quite proud of it. I’m so proud of myself for being authentically me, and seeing it in action validates my confidence in the idea that “WE GOT THIS.” This is a prime example of how we’re stronger together. After this phone call, I rushed to UCLA where they fitted me with a radiation mask to start my new treatment plan within a couple of days. In the middle of my week of radiation, we threw the Booby Bash at @santolinabh on the rooftop of the @beverlyhilton. I had the pleasure and honor of meeting and working with this Legend in 97 on the hockey series The Rookies. He was one of the nicest and funniest NHL’ers I’ve ever met. He cracked a joke every 5 minutes. 22 of us in full hockey gear in a hot studio in the middle of July and he kept us entertained for 12-14 hours. I’ll never forget your kindness with us, all the laughs and of course those forearms. They were the size of both my biceps put together. The strength and talent Mr Hull possessed was incredible.
