If you’ve been following me for a while then it’s no secret I have a dark past and a lot of trauma. I’ve always tried to be transparent about my mental health and why I create the things I do. I call my paintings my passion pieces, as they’ve always been an outlet for me to express where I’m at in life. For the first time in my life, I finally feel at peace with myself. It’s taken me such a long time to get here.. a lot of self work and a ton of healing. I’ve finally bloomed into the woman I know I’m supposed to be. It’s important for me to share this piece of my story because it’s a memory of mine I will never forget and something that has repeated in the back of my mind subconsciously stunting my growth for awhile now. Newest mural for a couples home 🤍 When I was reached out to, I was asked to create something incorporating a woman and flowers- my two favorite things to paint. In the process my clients expressed to me their adorable love for each other and since this was something they would be looking at everyday I wanted to make it special for them. I asked them to do an assignment and based off their answers I chose the flowers I thought described them best. I added Red Camellias because they embody passionate love and desire. I put orange tulips at the top because they symbolize a spiritual connection through understanding and appreciation for one another. Any project I do it’s really important for me to make it not only something I’ll enjoy painting, but something that really speaks to who will be seeing it. Firm believer in working smarter and not harder. I’ve heard countless artists say it’s cheating or you’re not a real artist for using this tool. Projectors are helpful for making sure the proportions of your design are accurate. Time is money baby, if you can use something that will benefit your process, make your life easier, and be successful with it then why the hell not? I think talent should speak for itself, and however you manage to achieve it that works for you is fucking awesome. For the ones that don’t know I make all of my murals with acrylic house paint. All the blending, all the fill, all the detail is used with brushes. It’s an entirely different process than working with spray paint. Different costs, different looks, different materials and applications. I’ve made myself proud at this point of what I can achieve with house paint as far as my blending and working on certain surfaces. There were so many lines to do on this brick surface, so many tiny little grooves, that you really have to have good brush control to master them.
