I’ve been waiting to post this painting until I felt like I could properly verbalize what it means to me. Love bombing is sadly such a popular thing in our generation. It’s all about getting the other person and then once they have them they start to devalue them. I experienced the horrible feelings that come along with broken promises and an dealing with an emotional rollercoaster. At this stage in my life I have realized I’ve been love bombed multiple times. I have fallen for this mental abuse because I’ve longed to feel truly loved for so long. Growing up with the childhood I had I lacked comfort, attention and validation. So when someone showers it my way it’s so easy to get sucked in and believe every word. I have gradually revealed the paintings I’ve been working on that shows the trauma that I’ve gone through. It’s my way of healing… and letting you guys in on my personal journey and no longer hiding what makes me, me. While working on them I listened to @findingxfletcher new album. I have never listened to something that I felt like was personally written for me. I don’t even have the words to express how emotional some of these songs make me. My art is my therapy because most of the time I lack the words to describe how I feel, so I paint about it. @findingxfletcher has the talent of doing so. This painting is my thank you to her for her vulnerability. For putting herself out there to the world to connect to. It’s inspired me to continue to do the same 🤍
One thing I care about deeply is self love. Sometimes it’s really hard to see yourself for who you really are. It’s a constant battle I personally deal with. We are all so uniquely different and beautiful in our own ways. Sometimes our minds can alter that self image and we can sabotage our true potential. So I made this as a reminder to myself that in my hardest times no obstacle, no feeling, no set back can deter from who I really am and what I love about myself. This painting to me is all about the journey I went through when I realized the gaslighting I’ve experienced in multiple relationships. Being manipulated in this way can make you loose sight of reality and completely consume you in overthinking and constant doubt. This is why I used this painting technique and overlapped the woman on top to emphasize on the consumption these feelings can have on someone. ✨Another year older, another year to reflect ✨They say your twenties are the hardest times of your life and I think this last year proved that for me. Thank god next year I’ll be thirty, flirty and thriving. From the outside looking in one could have assumed being on a TV show, completing huge murals, and moving across the country to make my dreams come has been amazing for me. Behind closed doors there was a lot of pain, trauma and loss that came with that. This birthday was one that taught me a lot. I was surrounded by my family while I took in the current reality that is my life. We’re on a new path… writing a new story… Growing. Evolving. Starting over. That’s what this painting means to me. It’s shedding my layers and accepting my raw, true, beautiful self 🤍 It’s a thank you to myself of how far I’ve come, how I got here, and where I’m going from here on out.
