Steve Greene Instagram – We had a chance to ask @tulsigabbard about popular conspiracies surrounding disasters, and she gave us insight on the tragic Lahaina fire in Maui, which had a prevention and response system wrought with individual failures. Rather than hold the government accountable for ineptitude, we tend to fight amongst ourselves over who has the more sensational tarp-tactical space-laser theory, the slickest mass kidnapping plot, or the best evil Oprah portfolio expansion plan. I guess some things still deserve looking into, but the point is we can’t let society turn into that old looney tunes dust-cloud tussle, where the true culprit crawls out from underneath while we’re left eternally clobbering ourselves. We appointed people whom we expect to work together, so we have to do the same to ensure that. At least, a little bit. Sometimes.
