Last week was our wedding anniversary, on Mother’s Day, my husband was away most of the day and I was gross with Covid. Or any photo that catches a moment where I’m looking at you with googly eyes. It’s literally, totally, special love. You’re my soul mate and you drive me nuts. Like – absolutely make me crazy in all the ways. I can’t do this life without you. It’s built around you and with you. Look what we did/made/lived! I’m your number one fan and you are my forever champion. I miss you every moment you’re not near me and need more space in bed! You’re my best friend and so much better than me at karaoke, cooking, building and straight-shooting. You’re easy on the eyes and get hotter by the decade. Remember when we were nominated for a Latin Grammy during COVID covid? And we watched the Grammys on our couch – isolated from our band members just down the road? Nope? Yeah, it’s almost like it didn’t happen. So surreal. @kristinafrisch let me borrow this gorgeous gown (we didn’t even get to hug but remotely dropped it off). Lucky didn’t wear shoes to the “ceremony” and the red carpet was our living room rug. Grateful for this time and grateful that’s it’s over. Be safe out there! And this is a reminder: keep making art. Indiana is next to me as I post this. She chose this very special vintage silk fabric while in Paris after seeing the YSL exhibition in Morocco. That’s when she decided fashion design was her THING!! And we are leaning in. She cut, draped and hand sewed the entire gown herself. Here is her creation. Time to sign her up for some more lessons to fuel this fire. Thrilling as parents to see what lights your kids up. Also, I want this couture for MY next red carpet!!
In the backstage toilet whilst washing our hands, side-by-side, Brandi Carlisle sang a glorious warm-up song and i didn’t realize it was her. UNTIL she turned to me and told me that I had it right – “Comfortable and stylish. I love your outfit” to which I replied, “It has pockets!!!!!” Like the GD basic B I am. To which she exclaimed – “That’s how to do it! Gorgeous!” Then I blushed and bumbled more chatting cause I got all swoon-like with her mega star power and she is so pretty and talented and can make any bathroom not stink. 15 years ago in this exact place, this guy said that he felt this gal’s energy before he saw her. He followed her loud laugh inside and listened to her onstage joke about how she had dated 154 guys (true story!) He then went onto to be the 155, and final, first date. He said “I love you” in two weeks and said that he would wait, as long as it took, for her to be ready to be married. ❤️ and of course they did ❤️ and all the life later… deeply entwined. Intensely best friends. Partners in all ways. Their true love story continues on and on and on.
