Taking a short break from work/politics posts because I’m off to Paris with the girls to see @taylorswift 🤩 I’ve been a huge Swiftie since I was 15, so saying I’m beyond excited is an understatement! I’ll post a few fun bits and bobs from this weekend but will be back to work on Monday 💪🏻 (And yes, it’s The Tortured Poets Department cardigan 🤍) #tserastour #erastour

A very Merry Christmas from us to you all! 🎄 Here’s hoping your day has been as full of good wine, good food, and good company as ours has been. We’re now curled up in front of the telly ready for the Christmas Wheel. Can’t work out if it’ll be me or Carter asleep on the sofa first! Much love everyone, D

Whizzed back from Paris this morning and made it into the office before the House began sitting for the day. Currently at my desk working on my One Punch Manslaughter campaign. I have submitted an amendment to the Criminal Justice Bill to create a dedicated offence of “One Punch Manslaughter” with an increased sentence for offenders. At present, the average sentence is only around four years, which feels painfully unfair to all the families left without their loved one due to this violent act. I have a meeting with the Minister this evening, so hopefully we can agree to make this vital change on Wednesday when the Bill returns to the Commons.
Well, 2023 was a belter, but I can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store. Cheers, everyone, and Happy New Year! 🥃

Day three of London Marathon training – this time on a comedown from yesterday’s grim migraine attack! But it’s worth it because I’m raising money for the brilliant @national_migraine_centre! #running #marathontraining #migraine #chronicmigraine
How Christmas Day started v how it ended! (Last pic taken minutes before I slipped into a sofa food coma)

Fifteen weeks to go until the London Marathon. Come with me to do the first long run in my training plan! #marathontraining #londonmarathon #migraine #running #migraineawareness #chronicmigraine
Squeezing in a quick run before work yesterday with my pal and colleague, Will! Another day, another migraine attack that crept up on me, meaning I was in bed with painkillers by 9pm after a full working day. But I’m determined to get through the training programme and run the London marathon to help raise money for the brilliant National Migraine Centre. #marathontraining #londonmarathon #migraine #chronicmigraine #running
97 days (well, 95 now) until the London Marathon, and here’s a bit more info about what living with chronic migraine really means. Keep your eyes peeled for the Ted Lasso pub! #marathontraining #londonmarathon #migraine #running #chronicmigraine #tedlasso
Earlier this week I signed the @HolocaustUK Book of Commitment ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day today. We must never forget the atrocities of the Holocaust and the 6 million lives lost. Together we must continue to stamp out antisemitism in all its forms.
Part 1 of the hardest training run so far thanks to my wonderful friend, chronic migraine! But proud I got out and did it. Now curled up on the sofa with the curtains closed! #marathontraining #londonmarathon #migraine #chronicmigraine #running #training #chronicillness
An exciting update from today on our lobular cancer campaign! @lobularmoonshotproject
Recently, Montalbo School invited us to speak to them about their brilliant campaign to save the Antarctic. They wrote some excellent letters about why they care so passionately about this and how we can help. Me and Jane MacBean for Bishop Auckland promised to deliver their letters to the Prime Minister, and today we did! A huge well done to all those who wrote to us, and I’ll update you when the Prime Minister responds!
Reason #437 why I shouldn’t be allowed to exercise… 🍅
Come with me to train for the London Marathon 2024! I’m raising money for the @national_migraine_centre – fundraising page live soon! #marathon #run #migraine
£72 million for Bishop Auckland ✅ £20 million for Spennymoor ✅ £1.4 billion investment fund for the North East ✅ And this is just some of the new Government investment for our area. It really is the Conservatives that deliver for the North East, isn’t it?
A very busy Tuesday (not Wednesday, despite the epic water bottle) serving on the Leasehold Bill Committee. It feels strange not being behind the Dispatch Box, as recently I was the Minister for a number of Bill Committees! Today we’re hearing evidence from campaigners and industry experts on the Bill, which aims to improve life for leaseholders in a wide range of ways. It includes extending lease extension terms, reducing ground rents, making it easier for leaseholders to buy their freehold, and improving transparency of service charges and administration charges. Ultimately, I want to see the Government ban leaseholds altogether, and I hope we can push them further as the Bill progresses.
There’s glitter on the floor after the party… 🎵
