The rise in hate in the US has had me thinking a lot about Anne Frank and the dangers of prejudice and discrimination. Even decades later, her story and message of resilience, youthful optimism, and the need to stand together against hatred in all its forms is a timeless and timely message. In Spring 2022, with the help of @AnneFrankLA, the LA City Council adopted a resolution declaring May 12th (Otto Frank’s birthday) the official #AnneFrankDay in the @cityoflosangeles. @AnneFrankLA creates innovative educational and cultural programs and events that further the legacy of Anne Frank in Los Angeles County. This month, to honor Anne’s story, her father Otto, and the nearly 1.5 million children who perished during the Holocaust, they are sponsoring a month-long series of Anne Frank Day events. The Anne Frank Day “Your Story Matters” Contest calls for SoCal teens 13-16 to enter the contest by Friday, May 5 and share how Anne Frank has influenced their lives.
