When I started to recognise and believe that true evil exists, the world became infinitely more scary. And I mean conscious, purposeful, repetitive evil. Not mistakes that happen because we are all human, no one is infallible. And sometimes we make excuses maybe because we cannot or dont want to believe that true evil is a possibility. But even though the world seemed scarier, I then also started to better appreciate the power of love, people (myself included) who are genuinely trying but fail and fuck up because you see them take accountability and make amends. I better appreciate a shared humanity, and the struggle it is to hold on to humanity in a very harsh world. But pretending that evil doesn’t exist, and ignoring it, rationalising it, just allows it to seep into our souls. We cannot let our empathy be weaponised against our fellow human beings.

Was trying to get this together earlier!! This event went really well and it was sooo energising to be in the room with people also excited to engage with mental health and express themselves creatively!! Thank you all!! It was a really healing Sunday. 🎨🎨🫶👩🏻🎨✨🌈 @theredpencilsingapore @anitakapoor @nathanhartono @arttherapy.thegate Today is the LAST DAY to help The Red Pencil Singapore UNLOCK the next level. Hahah they’re about $20,000 short of hitting $300,000, and once they do that, they get another $300,000 to continue providing art therapy services to underserved parts of the community. SO CLOSE. If you have the means, do consider making a donation and helping them level up!! Every little bit counts!! (Also, congratulations @mudrockceramics on your new studio, can’t wait to check it out!! 😍✨) Go to their page to find out more, and I’ll put a link in my stories!
👋👋👋🎨🧑🏻🎨Hello my dears!! Ok. So. I am a HUGE fan of Art Therapy. It is such a non-intimidating way to explore your feelings in a way that doesn’t even require words. Im simplifying what it’s like, but an example would be that your therapist gives you a prompt, and you respond to it in a medium you choose, could be crayons, colour pencils, paint, clay, etc. then from there, they may ask questions, or respond to what comes out. So amazing right?? My first interaction with it was I was still studying in LASALLE. I signed up to have Art Therapy given by the graduating students and it was such an eye opening experience!! I was gobsmacked to see how emotions could be explored with the starting point of doodles on a piece of paper. I wasn’t an artist, how did those scribbles mean anything?? Then a couple of years ago, I signed up for an introduction to Art Therapy course, and even then, my regular therapist noted that I had made different types of discoveries in Art Therapy. The freedom from words is something that I love, and the freedom to explore for creative and expressive purposes is just so enjoyable. The insights have always surprised me, how things in my subconscious find their way out. @theredpencilsingapore is so wonderful in providing these services to people from all walks of life who may not have access to it and will benefit from it. This Sunday Morning, the wonderful@nathanhartono, @anitakapoor and myself will be there with Licensed Art Therapist Christine Tok, and we would LOVE for you to swing by, find out more about art therapy, explore how creativity and mental wellness can work together, and just have a chat! You getting a ticket will already help them in raising funds to continue their good work, AND we get to talk about mental health!! (Which really is as important as physical health!!) Hope to see you there!!! (Last photo is how I’m feeling today. Lol) SIGN UP HERE https://bit.ly/MindsAwaken
