This is me nearly 20 years ago with koko Aviance. I guess I’m of the age and time where friends and loved ones, people we once knew and admire, eventually pass on. I don’t have a lot of detail but I can tell you I am absolutely crushed. I don’t work in Nightlife as regularly as I once did when I was depending on Club work 7 days a week. But those were arguably the most formative an impactful and memorable (and possibly somewhat illegal LOL🤣) times of my life, and that is 100% directly attributed to the people I was working and playing with! I met so many iconic people over the years but I was a part of a drag gang who all basically got initiated at the same time in 1998. We served and swerved on the dance floors together for several years. I just was talking to a friend about John “Miss Bebe” Breen ( NOT FROM DRAG RACE ) who we lost during the pandemic, little did I know that I would wake up to the news that Koko Aviance has passed away. That news is absolutely crushing to me and I will miss her with all of my heart. I hope she’s at that nightclub in the sky! I’m not sure how many of you all knew her but I got to tell you she was a full key, so if you’re going out tonight please have one for her! Rest in peace and passion. Xoxo

I had such an amazing night spending time with community who understand and are dedicated to the importance of uplifting lgbtq youth especially those I’m high school age. I’ve always felt fabulously queer but most of that road was alone in high school. I can only imagine how my life would have been different had I been able to connect with more queer classmates and peers. I’m grateful for the work that @glsen does every day and have been doing for over 30 years, and now chaired by my friend and life long muse ( yes Ricky changed my existence ) @wcruz73, I’m honored to have been asked to be this year’s host for the respect awards. Please check them out and support them if you can!

With all the stories an experiences we have shared for the past 25 years ….There’s so much I can say about how much you mean to so many, how inspiring you are as a black woman as a trans woman and as a trailblazer. There’s not a lot I could say that hasn’t been said before but one thing I can say is that I’m so grateful to have you in my life I’m so grateful to learn from you I’m so grateful to share space with you, I’m so grateful for the many chapters that we’ve written together over the years, I think our friendship can be defined in many ways but our Sisterhood I can only described by me as lifesaving. I love you so much Happy Birthday @lavernecox

I went with @pilot_pete to see bwaygatsby ( after a yummy meal at @rosamexicano…more on that in next post) and we thoroughly enjoyed! I love seeing new musicals. And it was so great to see one of my daughters @peanutpollino up there singing ( Screaming ) and dancing up a storm. I ALMOST didn’t recognize her with all that dark hair! Thanks to the hair department ( special shout out to @kevinthomasg) thanks to producers my team at Buchwald and @carlyheitner for inviting us!

Posted @withregram • @chasestrangio The current state of discourse over trans medical care goes like this:
-We don’t have enough data to know whether trans health is improved by this care even though we have decades of quantitative and qualitative studies and clinical experience documenting its efficacy.
-We need to know whether trans people can succeed in life by having romantic and sexual partners
-So, we will cut off their access to this medical care, push rhetoric that posits them as threats, bar them from updating their IDs or going to the bathroom, and that will show this care is not needed.
There are so many anti-trans assumptions that guide the assessment of the existing data. Dr. Cass betrays her anti-trans bias by regurgitating the same talking points we have heard for 75 years.
Here is how Dr. Levine, leading anti-trans expert hired to defend state bans on trans care explains why the care is harmful: “Sexual-romantic harms associated with transition: After adolescence, transgender individuals find the pool of individuals willing to develop a romantic and intimate
relationship with them to be greatly diminished. When a trans person who passes well reveals his or her natal sex, many potential mates lose interest. When a trans person does not pass well, options are likely further diminished. But regardless of a person’s appearance, these adults soon learn that many of their dates are looking for exotic sexual experiences rather than genuinely loving relationships. (Levine 2017, at 5, 13; Levine 2013, at 40.)”
Notice how he cites to nothing but himself. And then these presumptions are digested in the public discourse, legitimized by people like Dr. Cass and then used to strip us of our medical treatment.
Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a neutral scientific discourse.
Last night I went to see @hellskitchenbway with my dear Friend and Creative @vinzfeller and I was sooo emotionally moved. This show soars and exceeds on every level. The performances, The Voice says, the costuming, the acting, story, the script, the band, the lighting, the set and transitions. I was expecting to see some great performances the idea that would remind me of some money favorite musical Moments by Alicia Keys. But I got it so much more. I was touched by the storyline and performance of a family that looks a lot like many. This company and Production is deserving of all 13 of their TONY nominations and more. I’m just beside myself. This show fulfilled virtually everything I want to see out of a Broadway show. Thank you to the brilliant cast. Special shout out to Tony nominees @maleahjoimoon @shobean @therealkecialewis @brandonvdixon who serve this story and relationships to the audience so beautifully I can’t sing their praises loud enough. Thank you thank you thank you!
Last night I went for a PRE theater meal with @pilot_pete to @rosamexicano to celebrate #cincodemayo weekend! We had fried rice, TINY salmon tacos, plantains and Crema, sweet corn esquites, and the signature Mexican-style grill Parrilladas, served on a sizzling platter! They also have a delicious special menu and deals just for this weekend!
