My relationship with the #WomenOfIran began 4 years ago after copies of my books somehow made their way into a country not known for encouraging women’s growth and development.
Over the years I’ve received endless love and encouragement from Iran and have seen countless pictures as my little collection of words found some resonance with women on the other side of the world.
Today these women I’ve come to admire so much— who’ve had to fight endlessly for their right to simple freedoms many of us take for granted— are under more oppression and strain than ever.
12 days ago protesters in Iran and around the world came together to speak out against the death of #MahsaAmini. Mahsa was visiting Tehran on a trip to see relatives when she was stopped and taken into custody by Iran’s “Morality Police” for wearing her hijab incorrectly. She was reportedly beaten while in custody and fell into a coma. She never woke up again. She was 22.
Mahsa’s death has sparked protests all over the world but she wasn’t the first woman to die under this regime and sadly, she won’t be the last.
The Iranian government has cut off its citizens access to the internet so that first hand accounts of ongoing protests aren’t easily accessible to the world.
I feel woefully inadequate in fighting back against something so big, but at the very least, I can be a voice for my sisters.
I stand with the women of Iran and the men who protest alongside them. I pray that your voices are heard, your stories are shared and that you receive the justice and the freedom you deserve. 🤍
Shout out to everyone who keeps going to therapy, keeps taking their meds, keeps attending meetings, keeps doing whatever they need to, to get healthy.
It’s hard f*cking work and good for you for fighting for yourself 🤟🏻
Advice to a Younger Version of Me: Just go by yourself.
Go to the restaurant. Go to the movies. Go on vacation alone. Go to yoga and kick boxing too. Go run the half marathon as a mighty team of ONE. Go to the Dodgers game. Go see your favorite band and your favorite comedian. If you can’t find anyone to be your wingman, fly solo. Just go by yourself.
Because someday, when you’re almost 40, you won’t hesitate to fly to LA on a whim and see one of your favorite artists at one of your favorite venues— and you’ll have the BEST time all by yourself. And on your walk out of the venue you’ll wonder… how many incredible experiences you missed out on when you were younger because you were afraid to go by yourself.
Keep going 🤟🏻

Hey Friends, looking for a way to do some good this holiday season?
This month I’m partnering with the team at @covenant_house
Here’s what we’re doing and how YOU can help…
WHY: In the US alone, 4.2 Million Youth will face homelessness in a given year. Covenant House is the largest primarily privately-funded agency in the Americas providing shelter, food, medical and mental health care, crisis intervention, educational and vocational services, and an array of supportive services to youth facing homelessness regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
WHAT: I reached out to the team at Covenant House and asked how we as a community could serve them and the youth in their care this holiday season and we’ve come up with some ideas.
HAVE SOME EXTRA MONEY TO SPEND?
* Help us put holiday gifts under the tree for youth facing homelessness at Covenant House! Young people spending the holidays at Covenant House deserve to experience the magic of a gift just for them. Gift cards (easy to buy and ship!) offer youth the opportunity to select gifts they’ve been hoping for and help fulfill necessities too. Together, we can remind young people at Covenant House that they have a community who loves and cares for them.
* If you are able to, please consider purchasing a $25 holiday gift card. We ask that when possible, gift cards are general (ie Visa or something similar) rather than to a specific store.
* Once purchased, send your gift card along with a holiday note to:
5 Penn Plaza, New York NY 10001
ATTN: Sandra Cardona
RE: #GiveWithRach
HAVE SOME EXTRA TIME TO GIVE?
Volunteer!!! Each Covenant House site provides different volunteer opportunities for groups and individuals, both in-person and virtually. You can show up through art therapy (help youth create a vision board!), Career Panels or Packing of Kits. Find out more details at https://www.covenanthouse.org/awareness

Celebrating my favorite Scorpio @samilaneco ✨
In a minivan rolling from our show in Alabama to our show in Charleston.
I’m in the back back, tucked in next to all our luggage and I’ll tell you what…
when Johnny gets knocked down and then the cat starts playing drums on the trash can and then Johnny gets up again and defeats his nemesis in a dance off… I mean if your heart doesn’t just EXPLODE… well I don’t know what.

Whether you’re new to the practice, don’t have the journal or have been around for years, we’re resharing the step-by-step process of the practice so you can either refine your routine or establish it.
Stay tuned for video tutorials coming soon to YouTube, but in the meantime, listen to the episode wherever you get your podcasts 🎧
Another recent read that I really appreciated and thought y’all might too. Along a similar line, if you’re a documentary nerd like me, there’s also a great series on Netflix called “Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones” 🤟🏻
