Moananuiākea (day one) & protecting Oceania (day two). Gave my keynote today. Said some stuff that desecrated sovereignty and no one booed me offstage (win). Got finger waged by an old Zionist (also win— cuz I love making Zionists look silly). Got to talk with other wahine from the pacific about decentering men and disrupting non radical spaces (win). Got to see/ take some photos with people I love but have no real documentation of our pilina 😂. And Got to share all these experiences with my keiki & then blew their minds by showing them the wa’a and star compass in festival village (majah revolutionary mom win). Mahalo to the organizers and to my partner @malialia — through whom all wins are possible 😂🖤 Mana’o of the day: 1) be a gender terrorist 2) the people are ours. We are their refuge. 3) “forget hope. I have rage” -DR. MELINDA MANN

When your children ask, what you did as a genocide unfolded in real time before us… i will tell them the truth. I will make a spectacle of your cowardice. I will tell them what it was like to watch children burn on my timeline while you hid in your barbaric silence.

Fuck Israel. Fuck Zionism. Fuck colonizer apologists. Every occupier will fall. Every empire will implode. Long live the resistance. Long live the people who love the land. Long live the spirit of struggle. Long live Palestine. Liberatory struggle never dies, only multiplies 👊🏾✊🏾.
“Pu’uhonua: Building Freedom Places Together” at #NCORE2024 #NCORE in Honolulu “Remember— Hawaiʻi is the “tip of the spear”—where the US military and his friends extract, test, train, and perfect their death dealing operations. We must follow this thread to its ultimate conclusion: The training, testing, and extraction taking place in the Pacific is the fuel for ongoing genocides in West Papua, Palestine & elsewhere. The development of militarized riot control techniques is instrumental to the terrorizing of public citizens across Turtle island. And because Hawaiʻi (and the pacific) sits at this crucial site of imperial violence – it is imperative that from your positions that you come to understand Hawaiʻi’s context, your relationship to it, and relate that back to your own struggle, love, and disciplined hope.” 📸 @ Gharshe (on twitter) Mahalo to @cynthia.franklin1 for loaning me your Keffiyeh after I stupidly forgot mine at home 😭

@kamehamehaschools is hosting a summit on pacific conversions and cultural exchange during the upcoming Festival of Pacific Arts and Cultures (@festpachawaii) from June 11-13th. Im humbled to offer the opening keynote for the summit and hope you will join us! I will deliver the lecture summarized bellow. Get more info at the link in my bio. “E Mau Ke Ea: Sovereignty, Sanctuary, and Collective Liberation Kamehameha Paiea is a pivotal figure in Hawaiʻi’s sovereign history. He has been celebrated as a warrior, a political strategist, and a devout religious leader, however; Kamehameha’s contributions extend far beyond his acumen in battle. In this keynote Dr. Jamaica Heolimeleikalani Osorio will discuss Kamehameha’s profound and often overlooked role in expanding the institution of the Puʻuhonua, which distinguished Hawaiian governance in prioritizing sanctuary and refuge in the burgeoning Hawaiian Kingdom. With this mo’olelo in mind, we will discuss the necessity of refuge and care as a central component of self-determination in a time of rising seas, extractive capitalism, growing fascism, and increased militarized imperial violence. Dr. Osorio invites us all to explore how these ʻŌiwi and abolitionist principles can inspire our efforts to create a just and peaceful world. A world where sovereignty is a means to protect and uplift all oppressed peoples, ensuring our collective liberation and salvation.”
