Julian Assange is coming home. After 1901 days, Julian has finally been released from Belmarsh prison. Our thoughts are with Stella, his children, and all his family and loved ones desperate to see him. While great news, a decade of Julian’s life was taken by US overreach. Journalism is not a crime. Pursuing Assange was anti-democratic, anti-press freedom, and the charges should have been dropped. To the millions of people around the world who campaigned to #FreeAssange thank you. The Coalition’s nuclear plan is a fantasy, but the reality is, when it comes to coal and gas, Labor and the Liberals are on a unity ticket. Both the major parties take millions from polluting fossil fuels corporations. We must fight back against the major parties’ attempts to distract us. We need climate action, and a clean energy plan to get us there.

This morning I had the honour to speak alongside Zahra and Vashini at a rally to stop Labor’s Deportation and Entry Ban Bill. Labor’s proposed bill is worse than anything we saw under the Morrison government. If passed it will violate our international human rights obligations, rip families apart and whip up racism around the country. In a country like Australia, we should be proud of multicultural and migrant communities. The Greens will always fight for human rights and for permanent protection for all refugees. We need Labor to know that racism won’t win them votes at the next election. Please make your voice heard and sign the petition in my stories.

Labor needs to decide whether to protect the profits of supermarket giants or provide relief to Australian shoppers. The Greens will continue to push for measures that foster competition and lower prices.

Labor’s proposed NDIS Amendment Bill will slash $14.4 billion from the NDIS and deny participants choice and control over the support they receive, while allowing the Minister to make further future changes without consultation. What a blow to the disability community!
Vege patch update, I’m just growing chickens now! 🐔💚
Join me this Saturday to say No to Labor’s Deportation and Entry Ban bill! Labor’s proposed new anti-refugee bill will endanger the lives of asylum seekers, create a travel ban on certain countries (Labor refuses to say which ones), and separate families and loved ones. In a country like Australia, we should be proud of multicultural and migrant communities, but Labor and the Liberals want to demonise migrants and refugees and use them to distract from their own failings. We can’t let them win! Join Refugee Action Collective Queensland RAC, Tamil Diaspora Asociation-Qld and BRASS – Brisbane Refugee and Asylum Seeker Support Network in protest to call on Labor and other Senators to drop the laws and stop abusing refugee rights.
UNESCO’s decision to keep the Great Barrier Reef off the ‘in danger’ list is yet another temporary reprieve. To ensure the survival of our reef, and everyone else’s, we need Labor to get serious about climate change. You can’t protect the Reef while approving new coal and gas projects.
