Great to see that the Government has backtracked on a plan to impose a blanket reduction of the age cap for the Temporary Graduate Visa Class 485 (TGV), from 50 to 35. Disappointingly though, international students pursuing coursework master’s and bachelor’s degrees are still subject to the punitive 35-year age limit.

Labor’s bill to cap #internationalstudents is an attack on international students, student choice and university independence.
Australia is one of the largest exporters of fossil fuels and is directly responsible for the loss and damages caused by the climate crisis across the world. I echo the vital calls of civil society groups across Australia and the Pacific. Labor must urgently commit funding towards the global loss and damage fund.
Labor’s changes to #studentdebt and mandatory unpaid #placements won’t provide any immediate cost of living relief.
