Very often people are asking me why my name is “Maul Cosplay” Well it started in 2004 (I don’t have footage of that) when my sister asked me to come with her to a convention. She was a cosplayer before. There I met Ray Park (the actor of Darth Maul) and he told me that actually he is a stuntman. After a nice talk and a funny stage fight with him I wanted to become a stuntman myself so to weeks later I went to stunt school were I learned everything about stunts and especially good stage fighting. After two years my training was complete. At the same time I started to make my own costumes and my very first (real) costume was Darth Maul and in 2006 we (me and my stunt team) did a Star Wars stunt show at a convention stage. A few years later after I met @majafelicitasb we went to Gamescom and back then cosplay wasn’t really a thing there. We were in costume and when we walked by the Star Wars – Old Republic” booth EA asked us to come on stage. (That’s were the footage starts.) I did my Darth Maul moves and after that EA immediately hired us for a promotion tour in the Nordic countries where we did some Star Wars action. That was the moment where we realized that earning money with cosplay was absolutely possible so we kept going. We worked at and for some conventions and brands (not only in Star Wars outfits) and in 2015 we started to work on the short film “Darth Maul – Apprentice”. A very good friend of mine @shawn_bu had the idea to give the best Star Wars character ever more screen time so he created this master piece and directed it. We worked on it for quite some time together with my awesome and hyper talented good friend @vi_dan as action director. In 2016 at the same time we dropped the short film we also started my social media channels and we were thinking about my cosplay name. With all my Darth Maul history and what this character meant to me and how he changed my life it was an easy choice.
